The weeks are so slow when you have a 5-day weekend. I am not complaining, but really every time I get off from school, the week just feels endless. Monday was a crazy blizzard (snow-day), Tuesday was a delayed opening due to the snow (I had a doctors appointment so I just didn't go in due to the timing), Wednesday it iced and the roads were crap (snow-day), Thursday was a delayed opening due to refreezing and well, today. I know I sound pretty crazy. But I am pretty crazy stupid. Ready for the heel update? Well I went to the orthopedist on Tuesday and they started me out getting my foot x-rayed. Then the doctor came in for about 5 minutes and said there was nothing broken or fractured. Okay...sigh of relief. Then she said Planter Fasciitis. I almost passed out right there. Isn't that the horrible forever-lasting foot injury runners get! All I did was jump and land (hard) on a kitchen floor. I can't have this! It never seems like anyone ever fully heals...I am terrified. The pain is mostly in my heel when I walk and when I press the outside of my heel right below the bone that sticks out. If this really Planter Fasciitis? If you have dealt with this please let me know your experience with it! I am hoping that it just needs ample time. I will continue to ice and stretch it, but the stretching does nothing. No muscle or tendon in my body is tight. I am probably one of the most stretchy people in the world. I stretch everything everyday.....ugh! And I pride myself on my strong calves, as noted with this workout. I know that since I just keep using my foot and never let it rest it will just take even longer then it normally does to heal. I hear it can take months...years...
Enough of that, let's move on. Here is my fifth link-up to FTSF (Finish The Sentence Friday)! FTSF is that you are given a sentence each week and you finish it however you want, long or short. This week’s sentence was, "My best dream ever was..."

+ My brother and I once heard this really funny song on CMT on a Sunday when we were really young. My dad always used to have it on in the mornings. For years we could never find the name or the video again and we have been searching ever since. Well in the last 2 years my brother has become a country music fan and last night he was just browsing music on YouTube and then he sent me a message saying he found the song! It basically made my month year. I couldn't believe it! The video is so dramatic (horrible funny acting), but it brings back such good memories! O, the good old days <3
So Tell Me:
Have you ever dealt with Planter Fasciitis? Please tell me the rest of my life isn't ruined! :/
Tell me about your dreams!?
What is on the weekend plan? I have another college interview tomorrow! I hope the weather cooperates and we don't have to reschedule, but they are saying more snow this weekend..ugh! Besides that I actually have some homework to do, but I plan on balancing that with finishing the last 80 pages of my book (finally!) and trying my hand at making some raw almond butter and a new quinoa flakes recipe 🙂
Have a lovely weekend lovelies! Stay strong 🙂 XOXO

Hi Rebecca – I love your blog! A friend of mine had PF a few years ago and swore by water therapy where he soaked his foot every night and flexed and unflexed it while in the water (flat foot to pointed toe). I have no experience with this myself but it might be worth a try. I hope you can work through it soon, good luck.
Strength and Sunshine
That sounds interesting (and easy) Michelle! Thanks I think I'll have to try it 🙂

I hate REALLY long weekends. First it seems great but then there's a lot of catch up to do. I hope your foot feels better. I didn't have the same condition, but I had arch pain. I got to have weekly foot massages (covered by insurance) by a physical therapist. He also gave me exercises to strengthen my feet. Hoping you'll find a remedy soon.
Strength and Sunshine
Thanks! I am hoping that it will just keep getting better even if it is slow progress.

I have those vivid dreams where you wake up crying. I haven't had any lately, but the emotions I have when I wake up are so strong I don't forget. My husband has PF. He has a special boot his orthopedist gave him. He wore it every night before he went to bed and then on long car trips. But now that I think about it he hasn't worn it lately. I think his foot hasn't been bothering him as much. I don't know why...that's kind of weird. He has really, really high arches - really small feet for someone of his height. He sprained his ankles hundreds of times when he was in high school in sports bc of his feet. I think that has something to do with it.
Strength and Sunshine
My orthopedist offered the sleeping boot, but I don't think mine is bad enough and I really don't think it will help with mine. I have totally normal arches and walking steps, it is just from that one jump, so I really am hoping it will heal and go away forever.
NeverEverBeenSkinny
Planter Fasciitis isn't that great but it isn't the end of the world either. I have it and although it hurts it is workable. Like as a wannabe runner (me) once I get my pace on I can still go. Just stopping and then going again isn't easy. But check with a foot specialist, a different one, for a different opinion.
Strength and Sunshine
I am going to give it a few more weeks and just deal with the walking pain. I am fine doing all my weight lifting, yoga, and cycling so I know I won't die, haha!

I know what you mean about school - my son's was cancelled a ton a couple of weeks ago (he had one delayed-start day) and it was enough to drive me insane! I haven't dealt with PF but hope your heel is better soon. You've never had a falling dream? I feel like I have them almost every night. Weird. I have crazy vivid ones, as well.
Strength and Sunshine
Yea we had to already have one of our spring break days taken away...
They say that when you have elevated levels of Vitamin B6, you can be prone to vivid dreaming!
Real. Life. Parenting.
I had plantar fasciitis about 10 years ago. After treatment it was gone. I have a new thing in one foot / ankle, but it isn’t likely related. So there’s hope!!
Strength and Sunshine
That's good to hear! I may just have to suck up my hate for doctors and go get laser treatment. I hope you can heal your new injury! XOXO
Kate @KateMovingForward
Thanks for including me in your links! 🙂 Also, such a bummer about plantar facitis--that stinks! Hopefully you'll find a great doctor or PT who can make running a part of your recovery and treatment plan.
Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Kate! I just hope as the weeks go by it will continue to lesson.
Heather @fitncookies
Thank you so much!!
My uncle has PF and has been dealing with it since May with no solution. My cousin has it but only acts up every few years and she just runs through it. Apparently rolling your foot on a tennis ball helps. I also took to twitter a few weeks ago for my uncle and people have had good luck with KT tape for it! Hope that helps! Sorry to hear, though
Strength and Sunshine
I just can't believe it is this slow at healing when akk I did was jump and land really hard on the floor... no running, no crazy endurance training, ugh!
Amanda @runtothefinish
PF can be a total bummer, but I do know folks who have gotten past it by consistently doing a few things… one is yoga because the tightness isn’t always about flexiblity, so if anything up your leg is tight it will translate all the way down. Then they also roll their foot every single day on a tennis ball or something like that to stretch out the foot itself. I really hope it gets better!!
Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Amanda! I am already a religious yogi, but I'll try the tennis ball!

I have had those types of dreams that even though I can't remember fully, have truly shaken me to the core making me cry, too. So I can relate there and sounds like we had similar weather this week. I am in NY and definitely wasn't a great weather week by any means. I just hope spring gets here eventually, because so tried of snow and ice! But glad to see you back with us and linking up. thanks for joining again 🙂

The whole country is having a crazy winter. Crazy snow in Texas right now too! No one can escape it!

oh no, I hope its not what they think it is and you can keep moving/exercising like you want to. I hear you, I've had some horrible dreams that left me sick to my stomach...that still haunt me. Crazy how your mind messes with you, right?
Strength and Sunshine
I am able o do all my normal workouts, I just have pain walking and now my dreams of starting running are really on hold! But yes dreams and the mind can be really crazy!
