Hello guys! Well, I am happy this week is over. I have so much going on right now and for the rest of April, I feel like my mind is just running full speed on a treadmill. I don't think I will be able to relax until June 14th. Then the summer starts and I can take a breather for a few months. But until then, I have some major anxiety and stress to work through. (Hello yoga!). What is really stressing me out right now is Facebook college groups. I joined the class of 2018 group for each of the colleges I am accepted at. All the postings are either trivial teenager stuff, of people looking for roommates. Now mind you this is only maybe 50-60 of the same kids actually interacting and posting in the group out of the 1000-2000 in the groups, so these kids are not fair representations of the actual make-up of the class. But man. So far I see no prospects for a roommate! This is really stressing me out. I am very unique and so far no kid looks like a match for me. And I can guarantee you no one is a healthy-living blogger. Let alone yoga and fitness obsessed, gluten-free, soy-free, vegan, does not drink or smoke, is not a partyer, wakes up at the crack of dawn, does not enjoy listening to music or watching Netflix. And for some reason everyone in the DC schools are obsessed with their love for Chipotle? Weird.
Hopefully this will all fall in to place eventually, but right now...this is all I am stressing thinking about. And let's not even start with the roommate horror stories. And what if your roommate snores?! College...
Besides my college drama, here is my 13th link-up to FTSF (Finish The Sentence Friday)! FTSF is that you are given a sentence each week and you finish it however you want, long or short. This week’s sentence was, “I never understood what the big deal was about..."
I never understood what the big deal was about celebrities. Why are people so obsessed with the lives of the rich and famous? Why do people read those boring magazines like People, OK!, Star? I have never been into that stuff. I don't have a favorite celeb, nor do I even know their names. Maybe it is because I really don't like watching TV, movies, or listening to popular music. But half of them shouldn't even be "famous" in the first place. Plus, why do people think certain celebs are so "hot", "sexy", or "good-looking"? George Cloony? Really? Ew is all I have to say. Jennifer Aniston is not hot guys, sorry for the news flash. Celebrities just exemplify the bad and false ideals that our society has. The only reason I think people follow them is to virtually feel like they have some sort of connection to that lifestyle. In reality those people are about 3% (less?) of society. There are so many more wonderful, "real-life" people you should admire and look up to. People who have strong values, moral compasses, and a positive lifestyle. (Okay, off my soapbox. I am not bashing every single celeb out there. They are real people to, and some are amazing people. I am just making a generalization!)

A few things I loved about my week or am grateful for:
+ So it is official. As of Wednesday when the financial aid info came out for GW...it is now a realistic choice of school for next year! I was so sick to my stomach all week until that email came out saying I could see my aid. O, the relief and joy I felt when I opened it! I am still now 100% on GW though. I am going to visit Wofford next week and see the campus for the first time. Then the next week I will be going back to DC (Yes! Hit me up DC blends, haha!) to visit GW again and American. By the end of April I will know....O this is so scary!
+ One word...60 degree weather! (okay, three words!)
So Tell Me:
Give me the college roommate horror stories. I want to hear them!
Did you go to your senior prom?
What is something you don't understand why it is such a big deal?
What are you going to do this weekend to relax and de-stress? I think I am going to do some new cooking/baking. I won't be able to in the coming weekends so I have to get it all in now as much as I can. That is the other thing! How will I cook and develop new recipes while living in a dorm next year! O the humanity :'(
Well I hope you have a lovely weekend that is not stressful. If it is, shot me an email (strengthandsunshine (at) gmail (dot) com)! We can chat about it together 🙂

Thanks for the link love girl!!! have a wonderful weekend! I know college and roommates are super stressful. I was lucky to room with my best friends at both colleges I went to, so we were similar! We did get matched up with another terrible roommate, but one time we got lucky and got someone exactly like us! Good luck!
Strength and Sunshine
That's great! At least you had someone else to keep you cool!
Can I Get Another Bottle of Whine?
College was when I learned to sleep with a pillow over my head because the walls were made of something akin to paper. I still sleep with a pillow over my head sometimes. I angle the pillow so it’s over my eyes/ears and open to breathing. Ear plugs are good (get a pack of 20 at Walgreens for cheap), as well as a fan…right by your head. Snorers are AWFUL – and now I am one. 🙂
Strength and Sunshine
I've always slept with a fan on every night of my life so hopefully my roommate won't mind that! But I will definitely be bringing ear plugs 😉
Sarah @ Run Shop Eat Repeat
Roommates are one of the more stressful things about college.,, I roomed with my bff from high school and while things got tense some times, it worked out and we're still besties today! Hope you find a solid match. I think it's awesome that you're heading to college with a clear understanding of who you are and what will work for you. Own it, and best of luck!
Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Sarah! Yea, even if you know the person beforehand, thing definitely can get tense when you are living in such close quarters with someone else! You just need to have respect and set some boundaries!

It probably will work out but these months and weeks leading up to the uncertainty are going to do me in!

Marina @ Lazy for Diet
Excellent links! You shouldn't be afraid of your neighbors in college. On the contrary, the people not similar to you, do your life more cheerful. Life in college teaches you to life in the Big World, and there you not always can choose neighbors 😉
Strength and Sunshine
I'm not scared of that, I want to meet new people. That will be exciting. I am just nervous about living in a 14x15 room with someone, haha!

I remember looking for roommates. I'm a loner type of person. I am laid back. I don't care what you do as a roommate, but I don't like drama, and with roommates, there's always drama. My college roommate was ok. She did totally steal my TV to watch Friends when I was planning on watching a football game, and she always acted like she was too cool to be an actual friend to me, but she didn't argue with me often, and she let me do my thing for the most part. I forget her name, but I will never forget her obsession for No Doubt. Anyway, one of my friends in college went through 7 roommates in the matter of a month. One girl douched every day. Every. Day. Sometimes twice. Not sure what the issue was to make someone do something like that (like maybe rape was a possibility), but my friend switched roommates over it. What happened was, she went through so many roommates so fast due to her intolerance for any differences, she landed a roommate who smoked too much weed. Being there on a basketball scholarship, almost got her in trouble. Moral of the story? Accept people for who they are and things will work out better. Embrace their differences. You never know. I never heard of No Doubt until my roommate, and while I didn't run out and buy the album, I know all the words to the songs when the radio plays oldies, and I like it because it reminds me of her.

I remember going through the whole college process. It's definitely stressful, but all will work out in the end! Thanks for the link love!! 🙂

That's what I keep telling myself! It will!

I remember being stressed and worried, but it does all work out. At the moment it's unfathomable, but then life goes on and the next even is the most stressful and you can't believe you were even worried about the last thing.
That being said, I went to a local college and lived at home. Mostly because of money, secondly because I would not have survived in a college dorm. I'm not that kind of girl, LOLOLOL I'm too picky and set in my ways
Strength and Sunshine
Haha that is what I'm worried about...dorm life.. but I've got to make it work for the first few years until I can get an apartment or live off campus!

Hey Rebecca! As someone who was in the same situation as an incoming freshman, I totally understand your fear about finding a roommate. But I think you should really try to be open-minded about it– your roommate may be completely different from you, but she might turn into your best friend (it happened for me!). And also, the strong convictions you have right now, like not drinking and eating only certain things, may change, and you’ll probably look back and be grateful for the change! College is an amazing four years, so I just don’t want you to miss out because you’re too busy trying to maintain your blog/exercise/food choices. Just a thought!
Strength and Sunshine
My way of life and values define me and I won't change that. I am very excited to finally meet new people though since where I live now I just don't fit in. But in a city with people from all over the world, I know I'll find someone. I won't miss out on anything I'll just do it to fit me!
Janine Huldie
I totally remember senior year and gearing up for my senior prom and college, too. Seems like a lifetime ago, but I promise you do get through and things will totally turn out ok in the end. On a side not, I will not share about my prom date from hell here, but if you want to find out I wrote about it on my blog. But seriously, it will all work out in the end, I promise 🙂
Strength and Sunshine
Haha, I'll have to go read that post!
I'm pretty sure I won't be going to prom though. It is ridiculously expense and it falls on my birthday! Not what I call a night of fun, haha!
Kristy @ Southern In-Law
Thanks for sharing my recipe, sweetness!
This weekend I don't know if I'll get a chance to relax! Haha. I usually relax in the mornings before everyone else wakes up and it's just me, Chanel and my cup of tea!
I never went to university, or senior prom! Haha
As for something I don't understand that's a big deal, probably drinking alcohol. I don't see the appeal at all, it tastes gross, makes you feel gross and why can't you have fun without it?!
Strength and Sunshine
The mornings are my favorite timevti savour life! It is also psncake time on the weekends haha!
Yes! Drinking, smoking, all that. It is ridiculous, gross, and unnecessary. It does not make you cool or more fun!
Caroline
Thanks for sharing my link! I started college a while ago so things may have changed, but when I joined those FB groups I remember thinking the exact same thing! I feel like only a certain type of person actually writes on those things haha 🙂 So keep your head up, you may not love your roommate but you will find others that are just like you!
Strength and Sunshine
That's what I am hoping! There is no use in stressing right now when I can't do much about it...and I haven't even decided on the college yet! Haha 😉
