Take care of your mouth as you would the rest of your body! 7 tips to keep your smile bright and healthy, naturally and with no-fuss!
About a year ago, you found out how much I find joy in flossing my teeth (I know! What a nerd!). I still feel great satisfaction taking care of my teeth and oral health. Brushing, flossing, rinsing, maybe some tongue scraping. Even going to the Dentist twice a year is fine by me. I've never understood why people neglect going to the dentist. It's pretty painless if you've been taking care of your oral health (the only part I don't like is waiting hours in the waiting room!). But it's not bad and if it means keeping my smile bright and beautiful, I guess I can channel some patience.
Many people neglect their oral health, forgetting about it, eating and drinking foods that aren't so friendly on the enamel, not going to the dentist. It's more than just keeping your smile bright. Your oral health is so important; poor oral care has been linked to not only gum disease, gingivitis, but inflammation and diseases that affect the entire body, like heart disease. In our busy hectic lives sometimes we need a reminder; it doesn't have to be hard and creating an easy oral health practice will not just keep your smile bright, but your overall health intact! An easy way to start? With the help of Boka! The one and only subscription box for your "boca"!
1. Floss between those pearly whites! Did you know you should floss first? This was you are removing and loosening any stuck in particles that can than be easily brushed away after. You should use about 18 inches of floss, wrapped around your middle or index fingers with 2 inches of space in between. Start from the back and work your way forward, using your thumbs to guide your hands. You should floss at least once a day, but the more the merrier! Boka provides you with a natural beeswax, Teflon-free, and petroleum-free floss for easy painless flossing!
2. Have a great, quality toothbrush. One that's going to work all that gunk out! Boka toothbrushes are made with Binchotan activated charcoal bristles, which naturally helps prevent bacteria from growing on your brush. The bristles are gentle, but durable, as well as taperd to clean close to the gum line.
3. Toothbrushes don't last forever; change it every 3 months! The American Dental Association recommends doing so to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria from festering on your brush (yuck!). So, you should go to the dentist twice a year and change your brush 4 times a year. 2 new brushes between each visit! This is where Boka has made it super easy for you. Every 3 months, right when you need to change that brush, your Boka box will arrive in the mail and you'll have a new set of brushes and essentials right there and ready for you! No remembering to hit up the store required!
4. Clean your teeth with a natural good-for-you paste. Why would you rub chemicals and toxins that you'd never otherwise put in your body, on your teeth? Natural products clean just as well, if not better, than something chemical laden. Boka's minty fresh toothpaste is made with natural ingredients and essential oils, like peppermint and mint. It contains no sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), fluoride, triclosan, artificial flavors, or parabens and is 100% made right here in the USA. All you need is a pea-sized amount of paste to clean all 32 lovely white teeth.
5. Make brushing a relaxing ritual. You should be brushing twice a day for two full minutes each time. During those short 2 minutes, take sometime to relax yourself, make it a meditation! Feel the ground with your feet, calm your breathing, and focus on the simple act of brushing your teeth back and forth. It's a great way to start and end your day with just a few minutes of nice calm (that will end in a nice fresh, clean feeling!)
6. Try some daily rinsing. We've all heard of oil pulling by now. But Boka has made it easier (and tastier) to try for yourself! You can naturally increase your ability to remove bacteria, whiten your teeth, and freshen your breath with the Cocorinse Boka has created. It's only 3 organic natural ingredients: coconut, peppermint, and spear mint oils! Boka provides you with little packets that you simply warm in your hands and then open, squeeze into you mouth and swish for 10-120 minutes before spitting it out in the trash.
7. Put your good oral hygiene on auto-pilot for you, your entire family, even a friend! Visit Boka.com to customize your own Boka box subscription, or buy just what you need at any given time with no obligation! You can choose the exact kits you need for the entire family, even the kiddos (they even have electric kit options!) And as a college student, I know this would be a great gift subscription box to set up for any young adult who doesn't have the time remembering to change their toothbrush (or stocking up on floss!).
Creating good oral hygiene habits can be effortless, easy, and actually enjoyable! I mean, I still may be the odd man out for my obsession with flossing, but the more you do it, the less painful it is and the more you'll love it! And guys, Boka is making it easy for you to take care of your smile and keep up that good flossing habit I want you to have! Not only will your mouth feel good, but you can feel good about using Boka's natural, BPA-free, and cruelty-free products and packaging. That's something to really smile about!

Yes it is!

It's such a pleasure to read about the Boka Oral Care Subscription service. That really makes sticking to good dental health habits easier. I too prefer to use a natural toothpaste and mouthwash. I was really impressed with the toothbrush made with Binchotan activated charcoal bristles.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Well I hope as a fellow natural products advocate, you can give Boka a shot!
kimmythevegan
Change our toothbrushes every 3 months? Yikes I do not do that. Pretty sure I only change when I go to the dentist. Ew.
Thanks for the tip!
It would be handy to have someone just send me a toothbrush every time I needed a new one ;p
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Well then I know what you should sign up for 😉

This post caught my eye because I am having problems with my teeth a lot recently 🙁 I always thought I was good at looking after my teeth but lately they've been giving me hell. Love the idea of this subscription box and really like your tip on making it a relaxing ritual - anything that makes it seem like less of a chore is a good thing!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Totally!!! You should totally give Boka a try! They really give you great products without any nasty stuff. It makes it even easier to make a relaxing ritual when you're using natural products!
Emily
I used to definitely neglect my oral health before I got braces... Now I can be too anxious about getting every little bit of food out of my teeth with floss. 😀
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Hahaha, well at least for good cause 😉
CamelMirror
This is very useful. Oral health is actually quite important but we often neglect it. I used a natural toothpaste (no SLS) few years back but it didn't feel clean so I change back to high street brands later on. Am still looking for a natural toothpaste. Thanks for the information.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Give Boka a try for sure!!
Kathleen
A very good reminder for us all. Dental health is so very important for our health. I don’t know that brand of natural tooth care, I will have to check into that.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
You will love them, Kathleen! It is something we all can be more in tune with!
audrey @ unconventional baker
Nope, never afraid of the dentist. Never got the anesthetics either, even when I had to do a crown on one of my teeth. As for maintenance... I haven't used toothpaste in 2 years (just dry brush) and it works great 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Whatever works! Haha!
Sahana
Sounds interesting!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Boka is fab!
tianna
this sounds like such a great service - I love natural oral care products.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yes! They just make you feel GOOD inside and out!
Sam @ PancakeWarriors
Confession time. Dave and I don't use toothpaste. We brush with coconut oil and a tooth powder. It's pretty much the best thing ever to not be putting chemicals in our mouths. I have never heard of Boka but will be looking into them asap!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Really? Haha! Well that's definitely natural!
Jenna @ A Savory Feast
A delivery service for toothbrushes and toothpaste is so smart! I always forget how long I've had my toothbrush.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I know! Sometimes I would go at least 6 months 😛
Amberjane
I have never tried Boka before but I am interested now!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Well I hope you hope over and check them out!
Nikki
I've never heard of Boka, but I'm going to check them out. I am not on friendly terms with the dentist, I had a really bad wisdom tooth experience also. In fact they had to lead me out the loading dock, they wouldn't even take me through the waiting room so that other patients would see me. LOL but I do like having a clean mouth, White teeth and a healthy smile so I'm definitely going to check this out. Really great post thanks for sharing!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha, yea, but the dentist isn't the one that does wisdom teeth, the oral surgeon is!! (At least I hope!)
Boka is fantastic if you want GOOD natural products for your mouth!
Farrah
I unfortunately can't floss right now since one hand is broken but my friend recently went through something similar and suggested q-tips with Listerine in the meantime til my hand heals! My enamel has never been the strongest, so despite being a tooth-brushing zealot, my dentist visits are unfortunately not always painless. ;_; That Boka box sounds awesome!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha! Made listern uses 😉 Even though they are as sanitary and I don't like them, couldn't you use those stick flossers with one hand?
Kayla Arnold
I love brushing my teeth! It always makes me feel so fresh and clean! I used to love the dentist but I recently had my wisdom teeth out and now I have horrible nerve damage in my face that may last forever. So I am not the biggest fan any more.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yea! But o mg goodness! That's terrible! What did they do wrong!? At least that was an oral surgeon and not the dentist!
Regina L. L. Wells
I'm in love and hopping over to order mine right now. THANK YOU!! I like my current natural toothpaste, but I don't love it and wanted to try something new. Now, you've given me natural floss, rinse, AND toothbrushes. You have no idea how excited I am.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Awesome Regina!!! You are going to love the kits!!! The toothpaste tastes awesome, by the way 😉 And the all natural, no-animal testing thing was what had me sold!
Regina L. L. Wells
I got a little side tracked, but I just ordered my first kit! I cannot wait!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yay!! Let me know how it goes once you receive it!!!!
Lindsey
My fiance made the mistake of not taking care of his teeth and is paying for it now. I've always been good, however as I get older I get more and more precarious. Now that I have a little one I feel quite obsessive. I'm definitely going to check out this box. I've been wanting to try oil pulling for a natural whitening remedy. Tweeting, pinning and stumbling this post. <3
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Fantastic Lindsay, thank you! This seems like it would be perfect for your family!! You can set up the kit so you get enough of everything for everyone!
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday
Over the last couple years, I've grown to love flossing! I have a hard time going to bed without doing it now.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
It just gives your mouth such a nice super refreshed feeling!
Kristy @ Southern In Law
I definitely think dental health is SO important but I have to admit I hate going to the dentist. I'm lucky in that I've never had a cavity, however, I hateeeeeeeee when the dentist cleans your teeth as I feel like my mouth aches for days afterwards. My mum who's had a heap of fillings thinks the clean hurts way more than anything else haha 😛
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Really :/ I love how my mouth feels after! All fresh and new!!!
Lucie
So many great tips! I'm definitely guilty of not changing my tooth brush often enough (I need to set up a reminder for that or something) and unfortunately I don't share your enthusiasm about flossing 😀 I've been intrigued by oil pulling for a while, I need to try this option! Thanks for sharing <3
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Boka would be perfect for you! (The toothpaste tastes great, haha!) And flossing <3 I love it!
Elizabeth
Needed this post to remind me how important oral hygiene truly is! Those products look awesome, too! xx
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
You would love Boka! You'll WANT to keep those teeth healthy 😉
Daria
Awesome post! Good oral hygiene is very important not only to your mouth but your health. Thanks for sharing!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yes, exactly!
Monica
I'm always on the lookout for amazing products. I'm a fanatic about my teeth so if you say it's good I must try it.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yes! Give it a try Monica!
Natalie | Feasting on Fruit
I love my Sonicare toothbrush, but this paste sounds really awesome! I usually just use good old Toms, but it's really not that 'all natural' (whatever that a means). Love the Boka packaging too, simple but really pretty <3 I don't mind the dentist if I've been a good girl and been flossing. But if i haven't then yeah, i'm not a fan. Although I just went recently and I have to get my wisdom teeth out so yeah...that sucks 🙁 But oh well, that just means all the nicecream and mashed potatoes for me 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Girl, haha! You've got the wisdom teeth recovery down! When I got all 4 of mine out I forced myself to eat an apple THAT night 😛 Cause you know....smoothies aren't my thing 😉
Natalie | Feasting on Fruit
My teeth hurt just thinking about that! Yikes!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I never even took the meds 😉
Brittany
Oral care stresses me out because I feel like no matter what I do, I always have a cavity. Thank you for sharing these tips! I'll definitely be checking out these products.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Some people are just prone to cavities from their genetics!
Brittany
That's why my family dentist has said, and that my stress shows itself in my mouth - apparently that is a thing too. So apparently I need this box AND to let go of my perfectionism! haha
Phoebe
I love the dentist but for some reason I haven't found a new one since I moved to a new area! (Aaand it has been years). It is on my to-do list this year! Aaand I just bought some of that cocorinse! Looks so convenient! Thanks for the scoop!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I hope you jump on that ASAP!
Awesome!! I hope you love it!
Sonali- The Foodie Physician
Dental health really is so important for overall health! This Boka box looks fabulous!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
It is and people too often neglect it!
Emily @ My Healthyish Life
I actually love my dentist so I don't dread going (I used to because it was an old, mean guy but I switched). After having braces for 4 years I'm really paranoid about keeping my teeth/mouth healthy!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Hahaha!
O man, well the orthodontist is an entirely different story in my life!
