Dear Me,
As 2014 comes to a close in just a few hours, I think it's time to look ahead into the brand new opportunities awaiting when you wake-up tomorrow. Even though you know I don't like setting "resolutions" or defined and time constrained goals, I do believe in that sense of newness and a fresh start that just surrounds January 1st. With that sense of a fresh start, stating little intentions and wishes (with no pressure) is always fun to do. Just some wishes for the new year to guide and give purpose and possible direction. So here are my wishes for you, my 2015 self:
Blogging:
+ Make a real and updated media kit (because you really need to do that ASAP!)
+ Get business cards made.
+ Continue reorganizing my Pinterest boards and get 10,000 followers!
+ This is broad, but update and organize the blog. (It really needs love and attention and you have been completely neglected it).
Fitness:
+ Sign-up and run in an official 5K (although virtual ones are fun too!).
+ Run a 10K (You ran a glorious 4 miles last Sunday. New PR in 46:44 minutes, fastest mile of 11:30 minutes, fastest 5K in 36:03 minutes. Yea, I think the reason you are having an "easy" time running just once a week and feeling awesome is because you are in such great shape to begin with. I am so mad it took you so long to get started! This also makes me think how "easy" a 10K distance may be. Distance really isn't bad....well as long as you keep your "Rebecca Pace" 😉
+ Leg press double your body weight. (Pretty close to it!)
+ Start practicing pull-ups (because you never do them!)
+ Check out a few more yoga studios (although I'm skeptical about the whole studio thing. I don't think it works for you. Your more of a "yoga-loner").
Life:
+ Give yourself a break and stop fearing the future. You're not stuck anywhere. You can do anything.
+ Smile and laugh more. (Because it's beautiful).
+ Focus on what makes YOU happy and don't let anything, anything or anyone, stop you from doing and achieving what you want and love!
+ Instead of that memory jar (which you completed all 365 days. One Post-It at a time), commit to your new Q&A a Day 5 Year Journal.
2014 wasn't bad. It brought a ton of changes, experiences, and opportunities. However, I'm curious and ready to see what 2015 has in-store. A year to grow learn and discover. Most importantly, I want you to know just how much I believe in you. I want you to remember how strong, beautiful, confident, creative, brave, adapting, and intelligent you are.
Best wishes and love in the new year my dear friend,
Your Wise 2014 Self XOXO
So tell me:
+ What are your wishes for your 2015 self?

Deryn @ Running on Real Food
Lovely goals, Rebecca. I might have to steal a few of your life-related goals, I think we can all use those! Thanks for sharing them with us. There is something in putting them out there that makes them more real too! I have A LOT of work to do on my blog too this year and some of it's boring and tedious like re-organizing and updating old posts, but it will be worth it when I'm done. All the best in 2015!!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I love reading everyone's goals because they inspire me too! Everyone has their own spin on things!
I just finished my media kit today! Haha, one goal accomplished! I need to update old posts too though. Especially pictures of some of the first recipes I ever put on my blog! Scary stuff!
XOXO

Great post! My 2014 self wants to tell my 2015 self to have more fun - to do more fun races and not to put so much pressure on myself with training. Have a great 2015, cheers!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yes! That is always so important to remember! To have fun and remember WHY we do those activities! We love them and they bring us joy!

These are some awesome wishes for 2015! Happy New Year.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thanks girl! Happy New Year!
Sharon
Wonderful goals! It's January 1 and I'm just starting to put my thoughts together about my own goals for the year. I love your Memory Jar. I have a God Box - not something I do daily, but I'd like to put more energy into it this year. I think my biggest problem has been taking on too much. I need to scale back - do a good job at a few things rather than a mediocre/sloppy job at a lot of things. Anyway - I enjoy reading about your journey, and I hope you have a beautiful year! xoxo
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you so much my lovely friend 🙂 I think some way to document certain moments during our year is always great, no matter what it is or how frequently you do so!
I totally agree with you on focusing on being better and doing a good job in a few things, rather than throwing our energy in to many directions! Much more productive and fulfilling!
Jess @ Story of a Girl
This is amazing!! I particularly love your "life" column. I could take some of that advice! 🙂 Have a wonderful New Year, darling!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you Jess! Take all of my goals! We thrive off of each other's inspiration! XOXO
Marla
HI Rebecca,
I love your goals especially smiling more. I sure do hope you are able to accomplish all of them because its quite a list. I am used to reading your recipes from Real Food Fridays but this quite a different post and enjoyable. Have a healthy happy blessed New Years. Twitted.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you Marla! I'm glad you stopped by 🙂
RFC
Those are great goals! Forgive yourself for not getting into running sooner. I believe everything in life happens when it is supposed to, and perhaps 2015 is your year to find your running legs 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you friend! I think it is! I'm just glad it is finally time now to break into this new exciting activity!
Arman @ thebigmansworld
I can't wait until January 1st 2016 to see all of these crossed off.
Oh leg press. I did that today and went DOWN in weight. #weakling.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Me too 😉 Haha! Thanks Arman!
I hope I did'nt go down these last few weeks of not having gym access! I've just been using barbell at home instead :/
Kristy @ Southern In Law
This is such a cute post! I hope I continue to grow in every part of my life this year; in experiences, learning, love, faith, strength, health. That's the greatest thing I could hope for; constant growth!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Kristy! You're so right! We can only gain great things when we allow ourselves to grow!
rachel
You have great goals for 2015! I have to sit down and reflect upon my year and where I want to see 2015 go... oh the possibilities! 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Rachel! It's always fun to give yourself some direction for the new year!
Kerri Olkjer
Great attitude! I'm extra excited for the shiny new year for some reason this year. Interested in that journal...
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Me too! I have a good feeling about 2015!
I can not WAIT to start that journal tomorrow!
Amanda - RunToThefinish
oh man I have put pull ups on my list so many times now it's really kind of embarrassing...i never stick to that one for reasons I can't understand! Probably need a bigger gym with tools to help me get there, but oh well!
Can't wait to see what 2015 brings!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I know right! There is just something about them that just deters me every time!
Cheers to 2015!
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner
Great goals and very doable! I especially like the smile and laugh more. It's been great connecting with you this year and look forward to more in 2015. Happy new Year friend
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you so much Deborah! I'm glad I got to "meet" you too! XOXO
Stephanie
Great goals for 2015! I am looking forward to reading about how your future self does in 2015. Happy New Year!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I'm excited to see what I do as well, haha! Thank you Stephanie! XOXO
Erica G
What a beautiful way to wrap up the year and state your goals. It literally made me smile! Good luck to you and happy new year.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you so much Erica! XOXOXO Happy and healthy New Year!
Nikki Vergakes
Good luck on these wonderful goals!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Nikki!
Sarah Grace
I have that 5 year journal!! Too bad I began it 2 years ago and stopped after like 30 days..oopsies. 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
O no! Well I know I'll get OCD about it and won't stop! Haha, just like my memory jar this year!
Alanna
Love this. My sister gave me a journal book of "Do One Thing Everyday That Scares You". I am definitely looking forward to being happy and doing what I want to do in 2015. Life throws us challenges sometimes, but that's part of the journey. Happy New Year!!!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
It's what we do with those challenges and how we preserve that can make a year successful and full of growth!! Happy New Year Alanna! XOXO
Melanie @ Nutritious Eats
I have very similar intentions. I just need to sit down with a notepad and jot stuff down. Happy New Year to you friend- glad we met up via blogging!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yes! Writing them down just feeling good to do!
I am too Melanie! Happy New Year! XOXO
Natalie @ Feasting on Fruit
I love the "smile and laugh more" one! Even if that's all you achieve it will be a good year.
Haha, I'm a yoga-loner too. Maybe we just haven't found the right studio yet...hopefully. Considering there's only one around me I don't have a lot to choose from.
I just started working on a media kit too...need to get back to that 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Right! They say, laughter and smiling is the biggest stress-reducer and you just can't stay sad/mad when you're laughing!
Maybe we should have a DUO yoga session 😉
Those damn things stress me out. I took hours to put mine together just a few weeks before I started the redesign....what a WASTE!
Farrah
These are awesome ones! I'm with you on the business cards (and organizing/updating--that'll be a neverending process, har har)! 😛 With all the swaps I did this month, I really wished I'd had cards to send out along with my packages (especially in case people couldn't read my hopefully-to-be-doctor handwriting!).
The ones you have under "Life" are the best. <3 I really need to do those too!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Everyone says they get such great deals on Vista Print and Moo for cards, but I haven't seen any good deals when I look 😛
Haha, I want to see that DOCTOR handwriting 😉
Thank you Farrah! XOXOXO
Athletic Avocado
You have some great goals there! I love that you want to smile and laugh more in 2015! I just want to be more patient, Pray more and be the best version of myself i can be in 2015!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Patience...ha! I should work on that too 😉
Being the best version of yourself is one of the ultimates! So good to strive for!
Lisa (Mom)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you, Rebecca, and I am so very proud of you each and every day! You have amazed me with all you have accomplished this year, and I feel so blessed that you are my daughter. Fear nothing! You are so beautiful, smart, talented, and creative. You are going to continue to achieve greater and greater things. I know it! LOVE and BIG HUGs! - Mom
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO See you soon 😉
Linda @ Veganosity
You've set wonderful, obtainable, positive goals Rebecca. I'm cheering you on as you prepare for that 10K!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you so much Linda 🙂 XOXO
Marcia
I love that you did a memory jar this year! Such a sweet idea. Amen sister to throwing fear out the window. I'm not a resolutioner either but my intentions for 2015 hold a big goal that I've been fearing for a long time: a tri.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I've got to say though, that memory jar was NOT fun! I really did not like doing it and it turned into more of a "list some random events of the day". But at least I stuck with it!
You can SO do it! Once you start training and actually DO IT, you will be like WOW, I was scared for nothing! (At least that's how I feel about running now!) XOXO
Emily @My Healthyish Life
"Give yourself a break and stop fearing the future" <-- YES! You have nothing but great opportunities ahead and you are most definitely not "stuck" where you are now. Here's to a great 2015!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Emily! We are BOTH going to have an awesome "fearless" and unstoppable 2015!
Kelly
I love this, Rebecca! We have very similar goals. A media kit is first on my blogging list for 2015. I am so grateful to have connected. Cheers to 2015. I hope all of your new year's wishes come true.
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
I love this post! I actually need to do all those blogging things too. I will also tell you, since I'm about 15 years older than you I think, that not fearing the future is a hard one to conquer (maybe especially for some personality types?) I still find myself fearing and avoiding, but having experience now I am more aware of this and also less hard on myself.
My wishes to myself are go get 'em, don't be scared, and be vulnerable. Plus keep running and cooking and don't forget yoga 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Exactly why these are just wishes to give me direction and work on!
The best we can all do is to strive for living a life we are excited to wake-up to everyday and not let anyone (even ourselves) get in the way and try to tear us down!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
O those media kits! I had one all done and then I got my redesign and now it's useless!
Cheers to the new year my friend! XOXO
Carla
ahhh so so so so so many.
I moved last week
I HOPE TO LAND SMOOOOTHLY by 2.1.15 🙂
and from there?
WHO KNOWS.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
You sure do have SO many great and new things awaiting you my friend! XOXO
