A little breakfast meal prep and you’ll always have an easy morning! These Freezable Applesauce Waffles are gluten-free, vegan, allergy-free, and dippable! A customizable recipe perfect for kids, teens, even adults!
How I do with we all had endless morning hours before starting our busy days! My mornings are essential and I’m proudly part of the 4am club! I know most people aren’t willing to take it that far and try to savor every moment of sleep they can. Plus. if you have little kiddos you need to get up and ready for school, the mornings can become a dreaded event. That’s sad! Let’s not make that have to happen anymore!

I’m calling myself out here and telling you how lazy of a child I was! I remember having my momma wake me up for school, I’d go downstairs, sit on the couch while watching TV and telling my momma what I wanted for breakfast! (The bliss of carefree elementary school years!) My poor momma! (My brother would do this too, by the way!) Good thing I wasn’t too demanding. I’d just ask for some Cap’n Crunch or Frosted Flakes 😛 Now, if you’re looking for something a bit more nourishing for your kids (and yourself), while still being “lazy” with “cooking breakfast”, I have just the thing! These super, duper, DIPPER, (easy and freezable) applesauce waffles!

Now, let’s use are time savings hacks to order up some groceries and then make some freezable waffles for a super quick and delicious breakfast, any time, any day, anywhere! I used my favorite Hamilton Beach waffle maker which also yield super fun, dippable sticks (extra awesome for the kiddos!), cooked up a batch, let cool on a wire rack, and then wrapped in wax paper, then a plastic bag, and froze! When you need a quick healthy breakfast, just take one out and either pop it in the toaster oven, toaster, or microwave! (Even lazy kids like me can do it in the nick of time!)

“My mornings are essential and I’m proudly part of the 4am club!” Oooh girl! I thought my 5am wake up was early. I’m a total morning person though. Do you also have to get to bed by 9:30pm???? 😉
These look so goldeny, fluffy & awesome! Great job on these. I love your waffle iron! It’s so cute!
What! I’m in bed by 7:15!
We love Waffles and these look fantastic!
Thank you!
When I went gluten-free I really missed my bread, waffles help a lot. I’ve never tried adding applesauce to the batter. Sounds delish!
You’re not adding it. It is used as the “egg”.
We always try to make up a huge double batch of waffles and keep leftovers in the freezer for breakfasts during the week.
It is one happy breakfast hack!
Rebecca, I’ve always preferred a nice healthy waffle like this for breakfast over Cap’n Crunch! 😀
Haha, I don’t know! If they made Cap’n Crunch GF one day…. 😉
I must get a waffle iron! Seriously! This would make great make-ahead breakfasts for my kiddos- they’d love these~
They are super affordable and well worth it!!
i have protein waffles almost daily and have been thinking i need to be prepping and freezing them to save time in the mornings! this is an awesome idea! thanks for the post!
Prep, prep away!
These look great, thank you for sharing!
Enjoy!
Apple waffles sound amazing! And I like the idea of making a big batch and freezing them for convenience! P.S. I love the pattern on your waffle maker 🙂
Thank you and Thank you! I LOVE this waffle maker so so much!
Such a good idea to make your waffle ahead and freeze them. These sound delicious. Now just to get a waffle iron.
Haha, get on that!
Hi, I love the idea of waffles made with apple sauce. More importantly that they can frozen and eaten as needed. Time to grab some apple sauce.
That should be a pantry staple!
These look delicious! I just love finding new recipes that use applesauce. It’s one of my favorite ingredients.
It works wonderfully for so many things!
Oh we love waffles around here! Although I doubt we would have any left to freeze if I made these, lol. My kids are monsters when it comes to waffles and pancakes. They just keep eating and eating until I literally have to cut them off! They look delicious!
You’ve got some good kids, then 😉 Waffle and Pancake LIFE!
Applesauce waffles… YUM! They sound delicious! I can’t wait to try your recipe!
Thank you!
HI Rebecca
Waffles are always such a treat and helps you start the day out with a smile on your face.
That’s so right!
What a great idea, these look delicious!
Thanks!
They look so good, I just love waffles.
We all do!
Ooooooooohhhh!!! These look and sound SO good!! Willow was just asking for waffles the other day – I need to make these for her asap! I’ve heard wonderful things about peapod – I’ll have to look into it! We have a weekly routine though…Willow and I go grocery shopping with my Mom every Monday ☺️ But I order any essentials that I can get cheaper from Amazon or Vitacost!
She will SO love these! Dip away!
Haha yes! I do a Vitacost haul for all the “specialties” about every 1 1/2 or 2 months!
These waffles look so delicious!
Thank you!
I’m waffly pleased (see what I did there! 😉 ) that you’ve posted this, no egg, no dairy – EUREKA! I have a waffle iron that’s feeling redundant at the moment…not any longer. Thank you Rebecca!
Thanks!
Love these waffles! I am getting a new waffle maker so I will have to try them! For grocery shopping, I try to bring a list an to go when I don’t have my toddler.
Ah, the little ones make it more fun though 😉
These are perfect for my teenage vegan granddaughter – thanks!
They are perfect for everyone!
I love the dipping idea! My kids would love this. I’m going to look to see if Peapod ships to my area. 🙂
They WILL love them and so will you!
Rebecca! You’ve outdone yourself! We NEED these in our house! Breakfast would go so much more smoothly!
I foresee some waffle prep this weekend!
Love the serving size! I’m totally going to make this for myself this weekend ?
Waffle weekends are always fun 😉
Yum! I haven’t had waffles in a long time. I love your idea of freezing these so that they’re ready any day of the week for a yummy breakfast!
Waffles every day! Yea!
Even though I rarely use one, a list is important for making shopping quicker and easier.
Haha, always better when we actually write things down! I like to keep a list I continually add to throughout the week so I can just grab and go when I need!
They look and sound delicious. I used to make dipping waffles for my kiddos when they were little. It’s a fun way to eat them.
Can’t go wrong with some dunking!
Prepare! I rarely stop at the grocery store without my list, coupons, and deal apps ready to go. That way I am in and out within a matter of minutes and saving money too! Woot woot! Thanks for hosting this giveaway I am so curious about all their products!
Right! If you have everything planned out ahead of time you can save so much money (and time)!
Make a list! So much time is wasted if you walk aisles not knowing what you really need vs. want!
(Exactly what my mom does :P) She always ends up going 50 times a week because of it!
It’s hard to believe those are gluten-free – they look so perfect! I love dipping waffles, too. I usually eat them more like toast, so I’m all about toppers.
We can top and dip!
I heart you. I love that these are freezable!! They look delicious! I found out about Peapod when I first moved to NJ and was without a car, hahaha. They sound like an awesome service! <3 My time-saving tip = going in with a list, walking quickly whilst price-comparing…and shopping the perimeter! :]
Literally, you NEED Peapod!
There’s just something about waffles– they’re the most fun of the breakfast foods! 🙂
Right!! They are so fun!
I’m part of the early morning club, too! I’d love to wake up to these delicious waffles! I’d love to make them with some chunky applesauce.
Totally! Thanks Liz!!
Oh my golly, I love waffles! And then being able to dip them . . . this is genius!
Right? Thanks Laura!
Oh my gosh. 4am? To me that’s the middle of the night lol! Do you go to bed early or have your trained yourself to sleep less? I’m definitely not a ‘morning’ person. I probably start feeling awake around 11am lol!
Those waffles look so yummy! We love making waffles at the weekends as a treat breakfast. I usually blend up a whole apple into the milk as unsweetened apple sauce isn’t so easy to get hold of in our UK supermarkets.
Great to hear that you have online groceries now! They’re such a godsend!
I go to bed super early and wake up early. It all evens out, I just live on a different internal clock than most!
I made freezable gluten free waffles a year ago and they were delicious, but I’ve never made waffles dippable or with applesauce. Can’t wait to try this one out. 🙂
Haha, a year ago? Time to get back on it!
So good to know the applesauce works well in place of eggs in these waffles!
Makes them crisp and ready to be customized!
Ooooh I love your dippable waffle-making waffle iron! These look delicious 🙂
It’s such a gem 😉
They look so perfect and fluffy! 🙂
Thank you, dear!
I’ve been wanting a waffle iron for so long and now I absolutely need one, these look amazing! I love anything I can dip too! 🙂
Yes!! Get one! They come in handy more than you’d think!
My time saving tip would be – through something in the slow cooker and make enough so that you have dinner for a few days!
Rebecca, thanks for sharing about Peapod and thanks for sharing the recipe for these waffles!
Slow cookers can always help us out 😉
I love preparing meals on Sunday for the whole week and these waffles look like a perfect candidate for the breakfast! Yum!
Yes they are!
Such an easy excellent breakfast Rebecca, thanks.
And you know I’m one of the 4am club too. I’d never get everything done if I wasn’t up at this hour! 🙂
YES!!!! That’s what I like to hear, Neil!
Lovely idea of incorporating applesauce! Perfect for little ones
It’s just as a vegan egg replacer 😛
Tasty sounding recipe for breakfast or kept in the freezer for a healthy snack. The kids will love this.
A snack would work too!
Rebecca, personally I think this waffle recipe looks very extravagant! On a personal note, I’ve made something very similar for my family and it was a huge hit. Your recipe has a lot of personality!
I personally appreciate your personal comment!
I need to get a waffle iron, those look incredible!
Yes! You won’t regret it!
I just made a waffle recipe also– but I love that you are using buckwheat and applesauce in these! I love to buy those small applesauce cups for baking– so easy to have on hand!
That’s why I always have either cups or unsweetened of baby food jars!
Ooh these waffles look fantastic! Love the addition of applesauce..and cutting them to dip them 🙂
The waffle iron makes them dippers without cutting!
So many great things about this recipe – from the applesauce to the dipping action. Love it!
Keeping it easy and fun!
This looks so delicious! I tend to skip breakfast a lot because I feel I don’t have time. If I make these and keep them frozen until I need them, it would be a great way to encourage me to eat breakfast! Thanks for the recipe!
You will not be skipping now!
Yes this is perfect for busy early morning! My kids will love this:)
Yes! Thank you!
I love the idea of freezing the waffles to have them ready when needed! (And since you get up at 4 am, what time do you go to sleep?)
I lay down around 7 and try to be asleep by 8!
I know my girls and I would LOVE these waffles. They look amazing.
Thank you, Chrystal!
I have started ordering groceries online. I keep a running “cart” going every time I realize I’m out of something I add it to the cart. By the time I need to do an order, it doesn’t take very long at all. I have been wanting to try Peapod, in fact, I just started a cart the other day! oh boy so good!
O, that is such a good idea!!!
Love the idea of dippable waffles. Making them with apple sauce is a nice idea too. I think I might even have some apple sauce in the fridge …
Ah, waffle…MONDAY!
This is such a fun, creative idea! My kids would love these!
Let them go crazy with add-ins and toppings!
I have wanted a waffle maker forever! I need to get one, these look awesome~
And I totally recommend that exact Hamilton Beach one! I don’t even have to clean it; the waffles always come out perfectly clean!
Wow these sound delicious! I’ve been trying to find a recipe for homemade waffles that have natural and real ingredients and that my kids will like. I’m totally trying these!
These will be a winner for sure!
It’s always great to have a load of waffles in the freezer, makes things so much easier on a busy day for a breakfast treat
It sure does!
Love that these are freezable. I feel like they would come in handy for so much more than just breakfast!
Ooo, ideas 😉
I love how easy these waffles look! And the added bonus of being allergy-friendly 🙂
We all need to have out waffles!
These sound so yummy! I love waffles and will have to give this a try!
Thanks, Amy!
My time saving tip is to be organized by having a good list before I get to the store. I also find I spend less money this way too!
I always have a general list for myself, but since I do the shopping for the whole family, everyone is responsible for writing down what they need! If they don’t…they don’t get it 😛
This is such a fun recipe and giveaway! Hope it’s available in UT someday 🙂
I’m sure it will expand to your specific location!
This is the perfect grab and go breakfast! I love this applesauce flavor 🙂
Nice and light and ready to be customized!
I am so making these in about 20 minutes. My kids are sleeping in and I was trying to think of a good, fun breakfast for their day off–this is it!
They will love this!!! Set out a toppings bar to go with it!
Yessss I’m all about those make-ahead breakfasts! Makes things sooooooo much easier in the morning 😉 Boy do I miss waffle sticks, they used to be my favorite thing ever as a kid but I know I would 100% enjoy this healthier grown up version!
Everything is better when it’s dippable!
