The sweet and salty classic, now with a gluten-free, vegan, and allergy-free recipe! These Easy Gluten-Free Chocolate Covered Pretzels just need 2 ingredients and make for a fun dessert, snack, or edible gift!
One of my favorites and o, it had been so long since I'd had them! Chocolate covered pretzels! I made these as one of the edible gifts for my family this past Christmas. Gluten-free for my mom and then another batch (gluten-full) for my brother. There is just something so perfect about that salty and sweet combo that never gets old. Chocolate and pretzels...well they were made for each other too.
Of course, I had to add some sprinkles to make these a bit more "fun" in the color department! I was thinking these would be a great treat to make for Easter! Holidays always need the treats and candy, but to make sure we have safe sweet snacks, it's easier to make them ourselves! Plus, you can recruit the kids for this one. You just need the melt the chocolate (in the microwave!) and dip the pretzels in. Sprinkle with some color, lay them on some parchment to dry and bam!
It seems like people always assume things like chocolate covered pretzels are difficult to make. That couldn't be further from the truth! While I was making these in my apartment/dorm, my roommates were so impressed. I had to laugh! If you can use a microwave and dip things...you'll be golden.
The difficult thing comes afterwards. The clean-up. Not a fan of trying to get all that chocolate off my hands, the bowl...and the chocolaty fingerprints on the faucet! I'm sure you could do it in a more orderly less-messy way, but I like to get my hands in there when I cook 😉 That's why this will be a fun project for you and the kids (and/or kids at heart!)
These easy gluten-free chocolate covered pretzels are perfect to make ahead of time too. With my crazy schedule the last month of that first semester before winter break, I had finals and papers to finish. I wasn't sure I would have time to make these edible gifts, but I looked it up and found that covering the pretzels in chocolate actually keeps them fresher longer! The chocolate acts as are protective shield to lock in the yumminess and freshness! Just make sure to store them (once 100% dry) in an airtight container of ziplock bag!

The sweet and salty classic, now with a gluten-free, vegan, and allergy-free recipe! These Easy Gluten-Free Chocolate Covered Pretzels just need 2 ingredients and make for a fun dessert, snack, or edible gift!
- Category: Dessert, Snack
- Cuisine: American
Ingredients
- 1 Bag Gluten-Free/Allergy-Free Pretzels
- 2 Cups Dark Chocolate Chips
- Sprinkles (to top)
Instructions
- Pour the chocolate chips into a large microwave safe bowl. Heat in 30 second intervals, mixing in between, until the chocolate is melted.
- Set a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper down on the counter next to the bowl of melted chocolate.
- Take each pretzel and full dip and coat before placing it down to dry on the parchment.
- Once all the chocolate is used, sprinkle on the sprinkles or any other topping you'd like!
- Set aside to dry completely before storing in an airtight container or bag.
Caution: These may cause a snacking addiction! Are chocolate covered pretzels a snack or a dessert? A dessert-snack? If they're a snack, they're more acceptable to eat anytime of day...possibly multiple times. Do we really need an excuse? No. I don't think we do 😉
So tell me:
+ Have you ever made chocolate covered pretzels? I still need to make chocolate covered strawberries (the ultimate "healthy" dessert-snack) 😉
+ Pretzels and peanut butter or pretzels and chocolate? Chocolate! Peanut butter and pretzels...way to dry for me!
