Wish you could easily make a homemade rotisserie chicken? Now you can! This is How To Make The Best At-Home Rotisserie Chicken! A no-fuss, gluten-free, paleo, allergy-free, healthy no oil way to cook up the whole bird and use it for meals throughout the week!
How is it possible? A real rotisserie chicken in your own kitchen? Without it being messy and complicated? Heck yea! I'm sure you're probably thinking this is just a "rotisserie-style" chicken in terms of seasoning, but no. This is the real deal! It's so easy to make; you'll end up having rotisserie chicken every week, saving money in the process, and having tons of chicken for all your meal prep desires! Bonus points for this recipe not requiring any oil and of course it's gluten-free, paleo, and allergy-free! No need to worry about pesky soy additives, hidden sugars, or gluten like you find in store-bought!
How do you make a homemade rotisserie chicken?
Okay, you caught me! There's a new kitchen appliance that I NEED to tell you about! The GoWISE Electric Air Fryer Oven! This is not your typical air fryer! It has a built in rotisserie, dehydrator, "15 in 1" capabilities! The first thing to do way test out the rotisserie...could you blame me? It's the fastest, easiest way to cook up a rotisserie chicken right in your own kitchen. Take you bird, season it, truss it, slide it on the rotisserie rod, and simply press a few buttons, letting the air fryer do it's thing! You don't need oil when it comes to an air fryer so that means this built-in rotisserie doesn't either. You still end up with a perfectly crisp skinned, juicy, seasoned chicken when all is said and done!
How do you prep the chicken for the rotisserie?
I was scared. Not going to lie. You know how I feel about cooking whole chickens! It ended up not being so hard! The oven comes with so many instructions with step-by-step instructions, photos, and charts. All you'll need is a whole chicken (must be less than 5lbs), I used a 3.5lb chicken, some cooking twine, and your seasonings. Take you chicken and place it on a large plate to easily truss it. Taking your cooking twine, follow the instructions in the GoWISE manual for step-by-step written and photo instructions. But all you have to do is take the twine under the bird, pull the twine under its wings, then across the top, bringing the ends back around to the bottom, cross the twine under the crown and wrap the legs together. It doesn't have to be perfect! Trussing the bird ensures it stays moist and it's easier to handle with the rotisserie rod! I seasoned my chicken after I trussed it, then I slide the rotisserie rod through the neck down to the legs, tightened on the rotisserie forks to hold the chicken in place, then secured the rod in the oven (all these instructions are in your manual!)
How long does it take to cook a rotisserie chicken?
Air fryers are all about quickness and ease! For my 3.5lb chicken, I went through two rotisserie cycles. The rotisserie function on the air fryer oven is set at 400°F for 35 minutes. I let it cook for one cycle, took the chicken out and placed it back in for another cycle. As long as you get your chicken the safe internal temperature of 165-170°F you're good! You can end the second cycle earlier to check for doneness.
How does a homemade rotisserie chicken taste?
With a special seasoning blend of black pepper, salt, paprika, smoked paprika, garlic, onion, and thyme! Rub those seasoning on the skin of the whole chicken (I did not measure. It depends on the size of your bird and preference!). The air fryer oven's heat cooks the chicken skin crisp, meat moist and juicy, and fall off the bone! Rotisserie chicken is perfect for an easy weeknight dinner or for cooking on a Sunday and using for your meal prep throughout the week! No need to pick one up at the grocery store and no need to worry about the additives you always find in a store-bought rotisserie chicken! They always inject it with additives, sugars, soy, gluten, excess oil.

There are SO many capabilities to test out in the GoWISE Air Fryer Oven besides just the rotisserie! From whole roasts, rotisserie skewers, veggies, fish, baking, dehydrating...possibilities!
