Another week, another Monday! Post-op wisdom teeth situation is going okay! I have now "pain" and have been eating everything I normally would (just with soreness and no straws!). However, my face, especially my left cheek and jaw is so swollen and bruised (I'm talkin' black, blue, and red all over!), that I look like a crazy monster chip-monk if you will 😉 It's really attractive! You'd think I'd be hiding out in the house all weekend...which I did...except for going to the grocery and for a walk. I'm sure everyone who saw me thought I was crazy, but what are you going to do! I just have a couple more days on the antibiotic and I only pop an Advil if need be. I'm also still wearing my ice-pack head wrap a lot since my face feels so "hot" all the time. The ice feels so good on it! At night I get some pain since I end up laying on my face and my mouth is closed tight. That's the other thing, I can't open my mouth very much. But all in all I can't complain! Thank the wisdom teeth gods!
I had a pretty nice weekend besides all that too. Tons of cooking (more and more new recipes! I just can't stop!) A really awesome post I have lined up for you on Thursday, a nice walk on Sunday night, really just the usual, but it was nice. Yoga was not as nice as it usually is. Going upside down and moving my head in certain postures made my jaw and head hurt. But I still was able to get in a killer practice. You just tend to have less forearm balance stability when you have a whole bunch of blood pooled at your jaw 😉
And now transitioning to Power Monday! I've mentioned how I love socks and I wear them all the time. You will rarely find me with naked feet, even in the summer. Socks keep your feet warm, cozy, clean, and they keep you nail polish impeccable! One type of sock I love most of all though is compression socks. I got my first pair through a giveaway and then I bought my second pair at 50%, because damn, they are expensive. That's the only down side to compression socks. But I do think it's worth it to have a pair or two! They are so beneficial to recovery, not only for athletes and fitness lovers, but they also provide great benefits to just about everyone and everyday activities.
My favorite brand of compression apparel of course is PRO Compression. So when I got the opportunity through my Fitapproach SweatPink ambassadorship to do an offical review of PRO Compression, I was all in! We got to choose to review either the Marathon Socks which I already had two pairs of or the Calf Sleeves. So this time I choose the calf sleeves. I was excited to try these since I find it so incredible difficult to get the damn socks on and off your feet! Haha, there must be a trick I don't know about, but it is a workout to get those things on. But it also just proves that PRO Compression likes to #KeepItTight!
The calf sleeves don't cover your foot, only your calf. Basically ultra modern advanced leg warmers if you will 😉 Well I absolutely love them and think they are so cool! I love wearing these and the Marathon Socks because I never get sore calves or legs now. I have always had a huge problem with shin splints and got them every time I went to DC (i.e. walking all day everyday). But I learned that if I wear compression on my calves at night, my shin splints don't bother me! Miracles I tell you!
Calves are actually one of my favorite muscles to work too. I have two designated "calf" days where I really work the muscles which weights and calf raises that I once shared with you a while back. After those days, I like to wear either the socks or the sleeves and I know I will wake-up with out any soreness! It's great!
One more reason why I love compression is that I swear they helped heal my Planter Fasciitis that I got back in January. When it first happened, by ankle and foot was so swollen, but I wore those Marathon Socks everyday and continued to for months. Eventually with much healing time, ice, and compression, it finally went away! But I do contribute some of my recovery to compression, I really believed it helped.
So calf sleeves, welcome to my PRO Compression collection! You are certainly welcome and are now a special member of my sock collection...even though you technically aren't a sock...And if your interested in trying out PRO Compression for yourself, they are offering a 40% discount off an entire purchase from their online store. Just use the code PINK at check-out and it's a done deal!
Some other key features I should mention if your still on the fence are that they are 100% USA made, created with moisture wicking material, they have a wide cuff and open toe box so everything is comfy where need be, stabilization and arch support, and finally, they always have a Sock of the Month! It is a special design every month that is discounted when you sign up for their newsletter.
So tell me:
+ Have you ever tried compression apparel before?
+ What do you make sure you always do for muscle recovery? Drink tons of water, replenish depleted fuel with with protein and carbs, wear compression, and get some rest!
**I received a free pair of calf sleeves for review through my FitApproah ambassadorship and PRO Compression for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and come from my honest heart!**

I love the looks and sound of these. I have used compression pants before for workouts and just everyday lounging (who am I kidding). I like those, so don't see why I wouldn't love these! I'm a sock hoarder too 😉
Strength and Sunshine
Compression is the best! Plus workout clothes 24/7 for me too 😉
Haha! Socks rock!
kristenk
I use those same exact socks and I love them! I've never tried the sleeves though, that might be my next purchase from Pro Compression 🙂
Strength and Sunshine
O yes! They're much easier to get on 😉
Probably Rachel
I've never been a big fan of compression socks because I don't like anything that feels really tight... but on days when I know I'll be on my feet for a long time, I use the socks!
Good luck healing from your wisdom teeth! I had mine out two years ago and it got annoying when my stitches started to dissolve because it felt like i had thread stuck in my teeth.
Strength and Sunshine
My mom is the same way! She hates anything tight, but she just doesn't know how good compression can be!
Haha, I feel those damn threads now! It's weird and I keep thinking it's food, but it's just the stitch 😛
Probably Rachel
Yep! And it's basically impossible not to mess with them!
Natalie @ Feasting on Fruit
Ah wisdom teeth, my dentist has been pestering me to get them out for years, and I keep putting it off. If they’re not causing problems then why yank them out? So I can’t relate but I can empathize. Hope the healing is nice and quick.
I try to avoid socks, Vibrams all the way for me. But the fact that they helped with your shin splints is really interesting. Gonna go check them out 🙂
Strength and Sunshine
When they start to bother you that means you waited way to long! Haha!
I've always been intrigued by vibrams but they seem like such a waste (but I need to try them myself!)
Natalie @ Feasting on Fruit
Haha 🙂 To each her own.

I love love compression socks and sleeves. Either for running, recovery or both!
Strength and Sunshine
They are the best 😉

These look awesome and I'm definitely going to have to try them out! As for workout soreness, my biggest step for recovery is always a delicious post-workout snack. I am ADDICTED to smoothies, so it's usual one of those! Yum!
Glad you're feeling better and I totally understand the whole chipmunk situation. I looked so hilarious after my wisdom teeth removal! And - random question - what is your favorite kind of recipe to experiment with/make? 🙂
Strength and Sunshine
I always need my protein powders for recovery too! It just feels "wrong" not too! Plus I drink about 50 gallons of water too 😛
Haha, it really is very flattering 😉
O girl! That's easy! GRANOLA!
genevieve y
Never knew those facts about compression- thanks for the tips! I'll keep them in mind but sock hunting 🙂
Strength and Sunshine
You've got to try them out! (If you have the money, haha!)
Brittany (@batrentham)
I love those socks! So glad you are healing up well. I hate you are bruised though.. 🙁
Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Brittany!
Yea...hopefully that will go away soon! But if that's the worst of it, I'll take it!
Brie @ Lean, Clean, & Brie
I love my compression socks! They have helped SO much with shin splints that are always an issue with me too. I really want to try out the calf sleeves next!
Strength and Sunshine
They really are my life-savor! Shin splints suck, but these help so much!
cottercrunch
those are our favorite! that brand rocks my sox off. haha
Strength and Sunshine
Hahaha! Yes! I've only ever tried PRO so I can't really say how other compression feels, but these are damn fine with me 😉
eatsandexercisebyamber
Ah Rebecca! I JUST ordered calf sleeves BECAUSE the socks are too hard for me to put on and off to wear daily ! Glad I'm not the only one who felt "the struggle was real" now that you said you have them I'm even MORE excited to get mine 🙂 hoping it helps with my calf strain!!
Strength and Sunshine
Haha! Seriously, it is SUCH a workout to get them on! Plus I always seem to end up putting them on after my shower so my feet aren't completely dry (which just adds to the struggle!). But the sleeves...they are just that much easier 😉
Tina Muir
I wear compression socks for every race and workout, have done since I was a sophomore in college (thats 4 years). I don't know if it is placebo for the benefits in racing, but I would not go without them. They are definitely wonderful for recovery after long runs in marathon training. Thanks for sharing some new benefits too!
Strength and Sunshine
I'm a full believer in them! I usually don't trust things like this, but they have helped with recovery so many times for me, it can't be placebo! Haha!
Carla
I ALWAYS ALWAYS do long flights in mine, too.
Strength and Sunshine
They're pretty much magic I must say 😉
