Bloggers, do you have this problem too? I have a ton of post ideas (and recipes from the Summer!) that I want to post, but when it comes time to write my posts (on the weekend) I always struggle with what to write. Even though I have my list of ideas, I never end up feeling like posting them. It's weird. I have so many things I want to share with you guys this holiday season, but I don't know where to start! Then if I wait to long, some posts aren't relevant anymore or recipes don't fit the season. I mean, I still have this awesome pumpkin pancakes recipe from last year that I need to post! And then other posts will just require a lot of work and attention that I never feel like I have (or the motivation to write). I guess that's why bloggers always say their draft folder is overflowing with half-written posts. Mine, mine is empty. I can't have a draft sitting there (stresses me out!).
When I sit down to write a post, I want it done. I rarely take more than a day to write a post. I might work on it throughout the day, but I don't leave it sitting there. But that's the other thing, it takes me HOURS to write one post! I have no idea how some bloggers post multiple times a day...WITH photos too! Major props to you guys. Editing the photos for this recipe alone took forever, but I guess that's why legit food bloggers only post once or twice a week. It takes time and care! Still, I'm just not a fast blogger. That's why by the time I'm done, I never reread my full post (i.e. many errors), but hey, I have a life too! 😉
O and let me tell you. Coming up with things to write about in recipes posts is so hard! I think it's boring to just talk about the recipe, plus that doesn't take up much space. Like this dish. The "first" meal I cooked when I came down here to college. (The only new "dinnerish" recipe I've made). But that's it, end of story. So instead I'm rambling about blogger problems, haha!
I guess I should talk about the recipe now. You may be interested. Maybe...
I brought down a bunch of dried beans with me and no rice cooker to cook them the easy way. So instead of crying over this, I decided to sprout them! I took a Tupperware container, filled it with some beans and water, and left it in my room a few days while the magic happened. I always sprout my lentils, but I forgot how good sprouted black eyed peas were too!
Quick easy way to "cook" those dried beans! Plus, by sprouting, you make the beans much easier to digest which is a welcome outcome for tummies. Since they aren't fall about cooked canned beans, they have that fun little bite to them. The skins even fall off them sprouting them, leaving them to become "naked" beans, but still super tasty! So here is the recipe for this fun sprouted, gluten-free, and vegan dish...which is also pumpkin and veggie packed for your enjoyment!
Sweet Pumpkin & Bell Pepper Sprouted Black Eyed Peas
Ingredients: (serves 2-3)
+ 2 Cups Sprouted Black Eyed Peas ( Soak 1 cup of dried beans covered in fresh water for 1 day. Then drain and place back in a bowl covered with a paper towel. Every 12 hours (when you wake-up and before you go to bed, rise and drain the beans again. Continue to do this for about 2-3 days until little white tails form on the beans! Then they are ready!)
+ ¾ Cup Pure Pumpkin Puree
+ 1 TB Fresh Chopped Chives
+ 1 Medium Green Bell Pepper (Chopped)
+ 1 Cup Chopped White Mushrooms
+ 2 Tsp Honey Mustard
+ ½ Tsp Garlic Powder
+ 2 Tsp Dried Parsley
+ 2 Tsp Crushed Dried Rosemary
+ ¼ Cup Water
Directions:
+ In a large saute pan, combine all the ingredients. Stir everything around so the goods are equally distributed.
+ On a store, over medium heat, warm the dish until things begin to "sweat" and the dish is hot to the touch (10ish minutes). Remove, serve alone or with a grain, even use it as a filling for wraps, and enjoy!
There you have it, a rambley recipe post 😉 I hope you enjoyed it! I have plenty more where that some from! But I promise I will start working on these "bigger" idea posts. They are good, I just need to buckle down and write them!
So tell me:
+ Do you have this same "many ideas/no ideas" blog post problem?
+ How long does it take you to write a post (estimate)?
+ For you non-bloggers, do you sprout? Or have you never taken the plunge? I hope you do with this recipe!

I have trouble writing too sometimes. The first sentence is always the hardest for me, actually the first paragraph in general, lol. This mixture looks so good even though I would never have thought to put it together. Thanks for sharing on Merry Monday!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Getting started is always the hardest, but I know when I do, sometimes the ideas just flow!
I'm sure you've thought of pumpkin and chocolate before, haha!
Joyce @ It's Your Life
What a great recipe would love this in a wrap, pinned. Thanks for sharing on Real Food Fridays.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
It would be SO good in a wrap!

What works for me is having a regular posting schedule. As I make recipes I write them down all on the same pad so I can find them. I plug recipes into my calendar sometimes weeks ahead. I write about the same time every day and I usually introduce the recipe with it's background. What brought me to making it or what it reminds me of, but I do think you should talk about the recipe too, tips for making it etc so people get a feel for it.
I adore this recipe. Pinned. Thanks for bringing this by Weekend Bites.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Diane!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table
I feel your pain!!! With writing intros AND taking pics. Can't I just throw up random recipes?! LOL!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
That would MUCH easier 😉
Laura @MotherWouldKnow
What a creative idea - to sprout the black-eyed peas! I'll have to try it. Thanks for stopping by our Happy Holidays Link Party - be sure to join us again this week (beginning on Saturday at 7 pm ET) and every week through the holidays.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
You'll love it!
Michelle @ A Dish of Daily Life
You are not the only one with those issues...I have the same problems! Ugh! And I rarely have time to write on the weekends because of my kids' schedules so I am always behind!! Maybe I will figure out a way to get organized in the new year?
Anyhow, your recipe looks wonderful...I was thrilled to find it at Foodie Fridays. Pinning right now! Hope to see you again this Thursday night!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I just can't "think" well enough during the week for my blog posts. For some reason I can really only write them up on the weekends!
And thank you! XOXO
Debbie @ Bible Fun For Kids
I enjoyed the post! I have lots of ideas and not enough time to write them and/or finish them! They are in my folder called "All ideas for new blogging posts"! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha, yes! That's totally me too 😉
Alex @ DelishKnowledge
Totally have that problem! My draft folder currently has 40 recipes that are written and photographed... but not written! Ah, I need to get control! 🙂 This sprouted salad looks so delicious! Perfect for fall!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
It's crazy! But right now I am happy about it since I can't cook and photograph anything new here in college very well!
Francesca
Pinning for all to enjoy-- rather be eating 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha, yes 😉

At some point I found myself sniffing while looking at the pictures. I can only dream about smelling this right now.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Hahahahahaha 😉 It does smell good!

You have no idea how difficult it is to visit sites like yours and not eat like a grazing cow. In fact, sometimes it's impossible.

We are horrible writers. We struggle with getting what we are thinking to sound good online. We have learned to write less in our blog posts, so the time to write them has gone way down. It used to take us hours, so we grateful it takes about just one now.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
You're totally right! I think shorter posts can be so much more effective in getting the point across! I working on that...but I still tend to ramble on 😉
Michelle @ Vitamin Sunshine
I've never sprouted beans before- that sounds delicious! What a great way to improve digestion. I know I have trouble if I eat too many beans, so this might be the perfect solution for me,
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
It is! Sprouting has saved my life 😉 I can't believe you've never done it before!
Jo-Lynne Shane
That sounds so good!! And yeah... it takes me hours to write a post too. I always wonder how people who have full time jobs find time to blog.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you!
I know! And some of them are the ones that post multiple times a day! Insane!
Heidi Fowler
What a great and unique recipe. I think I'm going to love it!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
You will 😉 Thanks Heidi!

Yum! Love black eyed peas and I love the combo of the bell pepper and pumpkin, so creative! Never would have thought of that!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
They complement each other quite nicely 😉
Kierston
Looks great! Loving the flavour combo 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thanks! It is a good one 😉
kimmythevegan
I actually don't know how you find time to post as much as you do! I have my goal of 3 posts per week and that keeps me plenty busy ;p
Your blog is never boring, I quite enjoy reading it - just keep doing what you're doing Rebecca =)
Such a great sounding recipe, I'll have to try sprouting my beans.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Aw, thank you soooo much my friend! 🙂 a that really makes me so happy!
You don't sprout!?!? Girl, get on it ASAP!
Marla
Hi Rebecca,
I agree with you and have no idea how some bloggers can post daily. It takes me time to get my information together and make the article say what I want the message to be. Although many times I'm not doing recipes. Anyways your recipe is very good and sounds tasty. Pinned & twitted. Thanks for sharing on Real Food Fridays.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
It takes me awhile too to get all my thoughts down and how I want! I like my posts to MEAN something!
Thank you! XOXO
Ali the Skinny GF Chef
Oh, I have black eyed peas in the cupboard. I'm going to soak them now! This is great!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yay! I LOVE black eyed peas....and I LOVE them sprouted 😉
Phoebe @ Feed Me Phoebe
This is a really great vegan recipe! I love the combination of pumpkin and bell pepper in the dish. xo
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Phoebe 🙂 It's the perfect subtly sweet and savory combo!
GiselleR @ Diary of an ExSloth
I've written an entire post in my mind before while in the shower. It was witty and amazing and I forgot it as soon as I stepped out. So like you, I ramble on my recipe posts haha
My other posts are usually more structured so I don't have as big a problem with those.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha shower writing is so good, but yes...very forgetful!
Nicky
I'm the same way. I have ideas and half finished posts in my drafts. Plus I have a notebook full of new recipe and travel tip ideas. I need to crave out time somewhere to sit down and write.
I'm heard great things about using sprouted beans and lentils. I have yet to make my own, but this recipe looks delicious
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yea, it's like to much inspiration and ideas is a bad thing and it gets to hard to choose what gets posted!
Sprouting is so great! So easy to digest and safer on the tummy!
Linda @ Veganosity
I don't have a draft folder, I go week by week. I have to admit, I wish that I did have one, especially now that the holidays are upon us. I've been working on my blog about 10 hours a day lately. I'm fortunate to be able to call this my full time job. You should definitely publish those pumpkin pancakes! What a great Thanksgiving morning breakfast!
I've never had sprouted beans. I'll have to try them.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
You are lucky you can devote so much time to it! As long as you enjoy it, that is!
I am thinking of posting them next week 😉
And Yes! Try sprouting now!
Honest mum
Love this dish, Greek love black eyed beans so they feature a lot in this house! Thanks for linking up to #tastytuesdays
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Awesome! Thank you 🙂
Kelly
Yes, There are some weeks I am writing and scheduling and all is good. Then, I lose my mojo. It's probably normal. Stress can fog your brain too. Just post when you have something to say...don't force it. 🙂 Quality over quantity.
Have a great day!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
It's not that. I want to post so much. But having so much to post just makes it hard! A big conundrum!
Kay @ Kay Bueno
I'm terrible at writing anything ahead of time. I was the same way in school, always waiting until the last minute. I wish I had a folder of drafts, but, it's fun sometimes to just write whatever you're thinking.
This recipe looks amazing though. 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Waiting last minute is to stressful! You won't find procrastination here! I want things done! I hate waiting, haha 😉
Sharon @ What The Fork Food Blog
My draft folder is empty too... I hate having a bunch of drafts. BUT I have a million notes on my phone with recipe ideas and half written posts. They're more hidden there lol
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha! Yay for clean draft folders!
I just keep my running list of recipe and post ideas in a Google Doc!
GiGi Eats
BLACK EYED PEAS ARE THE SHEEZE-NEEZE!! But I only eat them 1x a year.... On New Years DAY for good luck! 😀 It's been a tradition ever since I popped outta the womb!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I know! They're the lucky bean! My Recipe ReDux for the new year (last year) was my take on Hoppin Johns just for that reason 😉
Mattie @ Comfy & Confident
I have never made black eye pea's or sprouted anything! This looks like a delicious recipe to start with!
I also have the post problem. I often think of ideas when driving to work so my notepad on my phone is full of my rambling thoughts ( I use the voice memo feature to talk into my phone and Siri writes it out for me!)
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Girl, you need to get sprouting away ASAP!
Haha, that's cool 😉 I do always have my little memo pad in my purse with me to jot things down!
Kara @ The Foodie Dietitian
This sounds SO good, Rebecca! Pinning now!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you! XOXO
Kammie @ Sensual Appeal Blog
Oh yeah, this looks just fantastic! Nice flavors too.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Well thanks Kammie 🙂
Nina @ whats for eats
I hear you loud and clear Rebecca! Except that I also struggle to come up with the ideas for posts as well (that doesn't make for a good blog does it?!) Anyway, I do not mind if I come across recipes that are out of season - I am in Australia, so what might be out of season to you, may just be perfectly in season for me 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I never cook or eat with the seasons, but I try to play along with "in-season" on my blog to keep the kids happy 😉 Haha!
oana79
Rebecca, this looks amazing, so vibrant and healthy, wish I could have a taste of it right now :-). #tastytuesdays
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you! Start sprouting and whip it up this weekend 😉
Lora
That looks amazing! Please come over to my house and cook dinner....!!!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha! I am always happy to cook for someone 😉
Jessica @ Nutritioulicious
I totally know what you're talking about. In fact, tonight I'm making a recipe that I made about a year ago so that I can finally post it! I have some food photos that look great but I don't even remember the recipe!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha, Yes! I have had that happen so many times 😛 I come up with a great recipe, photograph it, but it never gets up on the blog and then I forget how it tasted!
Nikki Vergakes
I have the same problem! And this looks delicious
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I think we all do! At least at times!
Thanks!!!
Erlene
These are things I would've never have thought to put together, but it looks good. Sometimes I take hours to do a post too, but I think it's because I have a ton of stuff to do at home. I think if I didn't have other distractions I could do more quickly.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yea, it was a random combo that totally worked!
I get so distracted too 😉 Usually reading other blogs while I'm trying to write my own post! Haha!
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner
Yum I love black eyed peas and this looks fab. Thanks for linking up with us again
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Me too! 😉 Thanks!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
I am a HUGE black-eyed peas lover, so this sounds absolutely wonderful! I love the addition of pumpkin 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Black Eyed are one of the best! I like how gentle they are on the tummy!
Olivia Schwab
Yes, I always have that problem too! I have a huge list of ideas that I want to write about and can't seem to figure out how to put words down. Your pics are amazing and now I'm getting hungry! I'll have to try and make this some time!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I think I may have to many ideas and that's what makes it so hard!
Thank you! Totally try it!
Katie
I totally get what you mean with blogger problems. I have great ideas for posts, but a hard time putting it into words. That recipe looks incredible. I'm definitely impressed!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I have the words, just not the motivation for actually WRITING them, haha! It is so frustrating!
(Thank you!)
Elsie @ Sharing Healthiness
OMG when I started reading your post it scared me to death because I thought you were talking about me! OK not really, but everything you said about blogging I feel the same. Two posts in a day? Please tell me how! Ha!
Never sprouted before but now you convinced me!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha, why would I be talking to you?
Two-a-days....are just...CRAZY!
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
This recipe looks so good and your photography is really impressive! I do the same exact things with post ideas. On Sunday I write a list of topics to fill the week and then I never want to write about them for some reason! A lot of times the post I wind up writing that day is just based on what I'm thinking about in the morning, on my run, or whatever happens to be on my mind when I actually sit down to write. I really want to get more organized with my ideas but I don't seem to write as well that way. The recipes are the big thing that I have to plan, since I need the ingredients and time to make whatever it is.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Recipes are the easiest to come up with, just writing the post is...awkward.
I could never write the day of...because it takes so long to write! I really have major respect for bloggers that do!
bill @thewoksoflife
Nice idea to sprout the bean! I will have to give it a try. Regarding the posting, yes, it is indeed time consuming and daunting when you put all of those micro task together. I have a continuous backlog!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Sprouting is a must in my life 😉
The backlog is ever growing!
Natalie
Some posts take me 5 minutes to write, some 5 hours! If nothing's flowing, then I go take a shower, for some reason that always gets my blogger juices going 🙂 I'm definitely the sort of blogger who has an overflowing drafts folder though.
Yummy recipe! Sprouting is one of those things I should do more of 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Omg! I "write" some of my best posts in the shower! The ideas and words always come there! Which leads to daydreaming and staying in the shower for a very long time 😉
Emily @ Sweets and Beets
Your photos are gorgeous -- I guess taking your time is worth it! 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you do much! 😛 These really are not good!
Emily @My Healthyish Life
Yup, right there with you! I have the best intentions of writing thoughtful posts but they don't always come to fruition. I guess it could be helpful if I made a calendar, but I like to write about what I'm thinking at the moment.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I think now posting on Thursday anymore has hurt me. Friday always has to be the Finisher, Wednesday is always a recipe, and Monday should be Power Monday....but I slacked off on that. I think I need to post on Thursday again...or maybe the weekend?
Annemarie (Real Food Real Deals)
This looks fantastic! What a great flavor combination. Pinning so I don't forget to try it. 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thank you so much Annemarie!
Shashi @ runninsrilankan
Your blogger problems are legit lady - so ramble away, I say!
Love (and am so totally intrigued by) your combo of pumpkin and honey mustard - this bowl sounds ahmazing! Nope I have never sprouted anything - yet - but you inspire me...
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha, I will! 😉
Sprouting is the best! Really, the only way I make lentils now is by sprouting! They are the best and easiest to try first!
Elizabeth @ Enjoy Every Bite
I agree with you completely on the blogger problems! I made a calendar for November of topics and recipes to post and have already strayed from what I originally planned! I have to be in the right mood for certain topics. Some days I have less time than others and I can't predict when I'll have the best sunlight for pictures! It's definitely hard work, much harder than I anticipated but I like the challenge! Your recipe looks delicious BTW 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yea! I think its best to just go with the flow and not plan to much in advance. But then that's when time goes by and I forget to ever post about something I really wanted to and the ideas get backed up!
Thank you!!!
Sonja Pound
This looks great. Printing to make next week. I've never used sprouted beans before, they sound so good. Beautiful images, BTW.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Let me know how it comes out! You will love sprouting!
And thank you! That means so much to me 🙂
Jeanette | Jeanette's Healthy Living
I find writing the post as soon as I make a recipe helps. When I forget to do that, it's much harder to go back and think of what to write. Like Farrah, sometimes I have drafts I completely forget about. Blogging is definitely a lot more work than most people think. That's why you have to really love it to do it :).
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
O gosh, I could never write the post right after! Haha! Definitely to late now with the 30 I have photographed and waiting on my list 😛
Blogging is a lot of work and I think only bloggers can appreciate that! Especially food bloggers!
Farrah
I'm like that too, but at the same time,I also have a whole ton of posts that have been hanging out as drafts for the longest time. In my pockets of spare time, I have a tendency to schedule most of my posts really far into the future, so I have to work to find spaces to put in the time-relevant ones when I actually get to those dates. x_x
In other news, this recipe looks amazing! I keep telling myself that one of these days, I'll revamp my food photos so they'll be legit and awesome, but oh, time. ._. The photos tend to be the deciding factor on how long it takes me to actually finish writing up a post. 😡
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I always write my posts for the week the weekend before. So the whole time relevance thing can mess things up too!
Photos are the worst....it just all comes down to lighting and right now that is something I do not have!
Farrah
Same here! I only recently acquired a table, and I have about 1 decorative plate (the blogging world is going to get very familiar with that one plate ;), so it's a struggle sometimes, hahaha.
Ann
Wow!~Great recipe! It looks delish! I had no idea you could sprout beans! I am definitely going to try this - awesome! Thanks for the great info!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
You can sprout anything! I still need to try sprouting grains like quinoa!
