Ingredients For A Strawberry Colada
- Frozen Strawberries: Fresh and frozen or already frozen! Since it was strawberry season when I made this recipe, I used perfectly juicy sweet in-season berries, sliced, and frozen myself! You can always buy a bag of already frozen berries too!
- Frozen Pineapple: Same goes for pineapple! You can freeze your own or buy a bag of frozen pineapple chunks. (It's cheaper to buy fresh and freeze your own!)
- Unsweetened Light Canned Coconut Milk: This colada will be thick enough with just the frozen fruit, so I suggest you use light coconut milk. Just one can (make sure it's unsweetened) will be all the liquid you need for these fruity mocktails!
What Is A Colada?
A colada is a cocktail made with rum, fruit juice, and cream of coconut or coconut milk. A piña colada is a colada made with pineapple as the fruit of choice. A strawberry colada would be made with just rum, strawberry, and coconut. However, for this recipe, we are combing both pineapple and strawberry with the coconut to get the best of both worlds, minus the alcohol! When it comes to a strawberry daiquiri, you'll find the addition of lime and added simple syrup!
How To Make A Strawberry Piña Colada
- In a high-powdered blender, add your frozen pineapple.
- Next, layer in your frozen strawberries. (Does the order matter? Probably not.)
- Last, pour the coconut milk over the frozen fruit.
- Blend the fruity colada ingredients to combine.
- Blend everything until creamy and smooth.
- Check the thickness level and serve right away!
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- You can easily double, triple, or quadruple this delicious mocktail recipe for however large your party is!
- If you can't have coconut, you can swap in your favorite non-dairy milk. You'll miss out on the "colada" part but you'll still end up with a delicious beverage!
- For a less thick drink, you can add a few tablespoons of 100% pineapple juice to achieve your desired consistency!
- If you want the flavor of rum without the alcohol, you can add ½ to 1 teaspoon of rum extract!
- Don't add ice! Adding ice will water down and dilute the delicious fruity flavors! By using frozen fruit, you don't need any ice!
How To Serve
Pour this frozen beverage right into chilled glasses, add a straw, some sliced fresh strawberries or pineapple, and maybe a little umbrella! If you make a batch of this virgin colada ahead of time, you can freeze the mixture and then let it defrost for a few hours before tossing it in your blender to mix everything up again!
