Friday Finisher 8/1/14

Published: Aug 1, 2014 · Modified: Jan 3, 2020 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

Um, did you know that today is August 1st! What!? I know. I'm stunned too! That means 23 days until college move-in. That means stress levels are about up over and through the roof 10-fold. I am beyond not ready and don't think I will be ready ever. Somehow we have to start packing and buying things I'll need which is another impossibly daunting task. Really I'm just still in denial and don't want to think about it. Right now I'm pretty content just staying here in my little room for the rest of my life. Yoga Gods...give me strength!

In other news, my facial swelling has gone down a bit, but my jaw is still terribly sore. The worst is sleeping since laying down is not comfortable with the blood flow and I can't lay directly on the side of my face. I wake-up a lot in pain and with a headache, but I'm still truckin' without any more Advil either 😉 Also, if you want to really feel pain after your wisdom teeth come out, do a handstand or other upside down inversion. You will experience some agonizing pain (yoga is a good time!).

In other other news, my mom had off of work yesterday so we decided to go on an excursion. She planned on taking me up to Jenny Jump Forest, but let's just say it was a total fail/ We never even found the right trails so we left and ended up driving around in the car for hours trying to find somewhere else to go. We ended up at the old playground park she used to take my brother and I to when we were little. I climbed the monkey bars and flipped around like a gymnast for awhile. We need to plan our adventures a little more next time 😛

Black Out Tequila Chicken. Boozy grilled chicken goodness!

Apple Cinnamon Cake With Hazelnut Frosting. So yum! A perfect healthy vegan cake 🙂

Vegan Roasted Red Pepper Pasta. This is the perfect sauce!

Healthy Cinnamon Crunch Cereal. O my goodness! This has to happen! Plus I have all the ingredients!

Salmon, Quinoa and Herbs Parcels. So yummy! The first time I made salmon, I made it this way!

A few things I loved about my week or am grateful for:

+ Slow wisdom teeth recuperation. I go back on the 9th to the surgeon so he can check the healing. Hopefully all is okay even though my swelling and soreness is still there.

+ Lots and lots of good cooking. I'm starting to re-think my life's plan. Maybe I should go to culinary school instead. Cooking is my true passion...o I'm having a not-even-quarter-life-crisis!

+ You should hopefully see the new Strength and Sunshine within the next two weeks! I am so excited to take this blog up a notch! (This whole process has added to my stress so much though. I will be so happy when it's done.)

+ This made me smile 🙂

So tell me:

+ Any recent fun outdoor adventures you've gone on?

+ When is the last time you swung on a swing or did flips on the monkey bars? I don't even know, but Thursday was fun! I always lacked upper body strength as a kid (being a dancer, my legs were where my strength was), and that's why I failed at gymnastics. Well I could totally do it now!

+ Like I keep telling you I have so many recipes to share! What type of recipes do you want to see next week? Breakfast? Dinner? Sweet? Savory? Granola? 😉

Hey there! Starting off college can definitely be scary as all-get-out! I remember when I first started not too long ago I was scared and excited and nervous...But you know what? Your college years will be your best years yet. I promise you. You will grow and learn so much about yourself in just those few short years, and they will fly by faster than you know! I still miss college, actually, and I just graduated this past December. Have fun and you can get through the move-in process, promise! 😀

Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞 So Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞

So many people still confuse the two, but it’s an autoimmune disease, not an allergy. That means gluten doesn’t cause an immediate allergic reaction resulting in hives or swelling…it causes your immune system to attack your small intestine longterm.

This distinction matters because:
👉 There’s no medication or quick fix
👉 The only treatment is a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet
👉 Mislabeling it as an “allergy” is scientifically incorrect. There is no such thing as a gluten allergy.

Swipe through to learn why the distinction is inportant and why accurate education and awareness is paramount. Let’s set the record straight and not mislabel our disease when speaking about it. 💛
