A Little Odyssey Motivation

Published: Oct 10, 2013 · Modified: Dec 24, 2014 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

Just a little Thursday motivation. My English teacher shared this quote with us the other day after we had a discussion about stressing out over the SATs and applying to college. I really loved it and wanted to pass it along to you as well.  It's just a reminder to stay strong through the hard stuff and use that strength and knowledge that you got through it to get through the next rough-spot/burden/obstacle/dilemma/stress/low-point and the next.

"And if a god will wreck me yet again on the wine-dark sea, I can bear that too, with a spirit tempered to endure. Much have I suffered, labored long and hard by now in the waves and wars. Add this to the total — bring the trial on!" (Odysseus, The Odyssey).

So tell me:

What inspirational quotes do you use to get through the rough times? I usually don't like all these motivational quotes and saying, especially the ones that float around on Pinterest and Instagram, but this is a quality quote form a great piece of literature so I'll take it 😉

"Go at it boldly, and you'll find unexpected forces closing round you and coming to your aid") aka Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid. Contrary to the movie Almost Famous, it is Basil King, not Goethe, who is responsible for the phrase. I think of it often.

Ah, The Odyssey! That was a great one. 🙂

I like to remind myself " Believe in yourself and anything is possible." I even have Believe tattooed on my wrist.

Believe is such a great and powerful word. It really can hold so much meaning.

What a great quote!! One that is very simple but I'm going to be using as my mantra on Sunday when I run my first half marathon is simply 'You got this!' 🙂

    Have a great weekend!
