Hold the phone! I know! Just when you thought I couldn't give you anymore creamy frozen treats this summer! I had to go out with a bang, one more summer hoorah before I start flooding you with my new "back-to-school" classics series! I'm so excited to bring you those recipes, but I'm also super excited to bring you this caramel blondie blizzard goodness now. We have to squeeze out every last ounce of summer fun while we still can!

Who doesn't love the iconic Dairy Queen Blizzards? An American ice cream classic, that's for sure! Ice cream blended up with your choice of add-ins, super thick, so you can turn it upside down! But I honestly don't even know if I ever had one, back in the day. However, we used to frequent Dairy Queen weekly when I was a small kiddo (Remember we are a family of ice cream lovers!). I used to love getting a vanilla soft serve with hot fudge. I may have had a Blizzard at some point, probably at least tasted one; if not, that's okay since we can ALL enjoy some "Rebecca Blizzards" instead!

Before I get to this caramel blondie blizzard recipe and how it can possibly be allergy-free, I have one of my childhood stories to tell you! Since I don't have a DQ Blizzard story to tell you, I'll just tell you another DQ story I have; one that remains front and center in my mind all these years later. I was super young, maybe 4(?) and on one of our Dairy Queen outings, I ended up getting a cherry slushie for some reason. We used to live close by to a DQ so we ended up bringing our treats home that day. I remember being in the living room with my brother, playing, while my mom was in the other room on the phone. What happens next and why, I'll never know, but the next memory I have is...

My head is stuck in the chair of our little wooden play table! What possessed me to stick my head in the cut out back of the chair, I'll never know (I assume my brother dared me to do something stupid). I should have just been sitting on the floor, enjoying my cherry slushie, but no...I stick my head in a chair and get it stuck! I don't remember what happened next, but obviously I came out alive and no longer have a chair hanging around my neck! That, my gluten-free friends, is one of my most prominent Dairy Queen memories! Hahaha! It has nothing to do with ice cream, Blizzards, and barely cherry slushies, but somehow they connect in my mind.

Now that you've suffered through that story, on to the Caramel Blondie BLIZZARD! You know my feelings about banana "nice cream", but I discovered that when you blend those frozen chunks, you get the THICKEST ice cream. The best thing to use for an "upside-downable" blizzard creation. The best add-ins for this allergy-free blizzard had to be Enjoy Life Food's new Caramel Blondie Chewy Bars (and their mini chocolate chips)! The new and improved chewy bars they came out with last month are Carrot Cake, Caramel Blondie, and Blueberry Poppy Seed! (I almost cried when I heard about the carrot cake.) The Caramel Blondie bars sounded best for a killer vegan blizzard. Decadent, allergy-free, gluten-free, and much better than anything from DQ!

Creamy, cool, decadence, with vegan caramel goodness and just a hint of chocolate...SO GOOD! The bars have chocolate chips in them too, I was happily surprised to find out! As another enticing bonus, from August 1st to September 15th, you can use the code: CHEWYBLOG for 20% off single boxes of Enjoy Life's 3 new Chewy Bar Flavors from their online store! So go! Order some bars, blend up some dairy-free caramel blondie blizzard madness, eat freely, and don't get you head stuck in a chair!

So tell me:

+ What was your go-to Dairy Queen order? You know, I never knew until a few years ago that Dairy Queen also had locations that served fast food as well as their ice cream! Ha!
