Friday Finisher 5/15/15

Published: May 15, 2015 · Modified: Jan 3, 2020 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

Hey there Friday! Sadly (maybe?) Fridays no longer have that great TGIF impact, because you know, SUMMER/NO SCHOOL! First week of my break is in the books and really was rather slow and relaxing. I guess it was the "regrounding" that I needed. Lazy days all week full of unpacking (which I am!), cooking (you guys should be excited about that!), eating (all the cooking and wonderful foods I haven't been able to have in so long), loosening my grip on technology as an entertainment (easy blog posts, which I thank you for supporting, less blog reading, social media, etc.), workout improve (my barbell and I have reunited, and someone stole one of the 35lb dumbbells from the rack...I had to use 40lbs instead which I guess was good, haha!), driving (which I didn't forget how to do!),  and just being able to see my loved ones. Pretty nice stuff!

Only not so nice thing was the day after I came home (last Saturday), I was putting away a glass baking dish that was sitting on the stove. I was also boiling water for tea on the burner in front of the pan. I grab the edge of the glass pan and bring it all the way to the counter before I realized I just gave myself the worse burn (between my right thumb and forefinger) I've even had. The pain! OMG! I have never felt pain like that from a burn. My hand is going to be scarred for life now. I can use it and the pain has gone away after treating it correctly, but I scar so easily.

So that was my welcome home gift to myself 😛 But you know, I'm just glad to be home right now! So here is to a fabulous weekend (how can May be half-way over!?) and burn free cooking! Or...well...clean up in my case!

Glad you're back at home and enjoying it =) Yikes about your poor hand! Grab some vitamin E oil and apply liberally for 6-8 weeks and it will really help lighten the scar.

I burned my finger not too long ago and I was in shock at how bad it hurt. All I could think of is what it must feel like to have a 3rd degree burn- unless you just turn numb from the pain? I mean, it was crazy painful all morning. and it probably wasn't that bad in comparison to "bad burns" but it was the worst I've ever had. So yes, I know what you mean!

Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞 So Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞

So many people still confuse the two, but it’s an autoimmune disease, not an allergy. That means gluten doesn’t cause an immediate allergic reaction resulting in hives or swelling…it causes your immune system to attack your small intestine longterm.

This distinction matters because:
👉 There’s no medication or quick fix
👉 The only treatment is a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet
👉 Mislabeling it as an “allergy” is scientifically incorrect. There is no such thing as a gluten allergy.
