Friday Finisher 6/12/15

Published: Jun 12, 2015 · Modified: Jan 2, 2020 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

Down and out! That's what happened to me from middle of the night Tuesday through Thursday. I basically lost a whole day of my life Wednesday. I slept the entire day, couldn't even look at the screen of my phone, let alone promote the blog post I had go up. (If you noticed, I totally disappeared). I never EVER get sick like this...ever! The headache I had was unreal and I had a fever! I think the last time I had a fever was in 2nd grade when I had pneumonia! (Haha!) We're assuming I caught it from my dad. All I can say now is TGIF! As I haven't been able to move my body for the last 48 hours, I'm hoping to ease into the weekend and maybe actually act like a human again today.

So I really hope your week was a lot better than mine, but here's to a great weekend for all of us! And I hope you've been enjoying all these circa 2014 recipes I've been posting! It's my mission to get the old ones published before I get to the good new stuff! (Make sure you're following me on Instagram since that's where I share all my sneak peeks at what's to come!)

I've FINALLY caught up with my blog reading! Where do I begin? I totally agree with the "Dear Bloggers, I'm Done" post. It's so frustrating to be faithful to a blogger and not get much of anything in return. I also loved the "F" word post. I never cursed until my kids became adults, now I say the "F" word way too often. Maybe it's reality TV?

I hope you're one hundred percent by now. I'm so glad you're home and your mom could take care of you. 🙂

Those mixed berry tarts are lookin good!! My favourite things to snag at the farmers market right now are local Ontario strawberries. They are so juicy and fresh and just so yummy! As for the last time I was sick... I had an awful stomach flu that had me hurling for three days. That was awful. When I recovered, I felt so grateful to be healthy again! Hope you had a beautiful weekend <3

I hope your sickness is on its way out and you start to feel better ASAP! I haven't been totally knocked out by a cold, but the last few months I definitely over-worked myself and ignored all the warning signals of burnout. I paid with a cold and a sprained ankle in the same week and ended up having to take the week off to recharge.

I think that article about how successful people work less and get more done is going to be super helpful! 😉

Yea, I'm trying to look on the bright side of total rest for 3 days, although, it's hard to call that rest when you come out of it so weak!

Those popsicles look like something both my little sister and I would LOVE! :)) My favorite thing to snag at a farmer's market is probably fresh peaches or pears, because Colorado produces some of the best from the Western slope. Last time I had a cold was about a month ago. I figure a cold is usually just a way of making my body slow down and relax.

Literally, what are we doing if we’re not combining the two coziest quick breads into one? Naturally moist and sweet from real pumpkin and ripe bananas, which makes it perfect for a gluten-free recipe that needs extra moisture and an eggless recipe since pumpkin and banana are OG vegan egg replacements! This gluten-free pumpkin banana bread is a blank slate for any cozy add-ins you can dream of, but its simplicity is what makes it shine on its own! 😋🙌

Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞 So Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞

So many people still confuse the two, but it’s an autoimmune disease, not an allergy. That means gluten doesn’t cause an immediate allergic reaction resulting in hives or swelling…it causes your immune system to attack your small intestine longterm.

This distinction matters because:
👉 There’s no medication or quick fix
👉 The only treatment is a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet
👉 Mislabeling it as an “allergy” is scientifically incorrect. There is no such thing as a gluten allergy.

Swipe through to learn why the distinction is inportant and why accurate education and awareness is paramount. Let’s set the record straight and not mislabel our disease when speaking about it. 💛
