Friday Finisher 7/17/15

Published: Jul 17, 2015 · Modified: Jan 2, 2020 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

It's Friday again!? Come on! This week was faster than last! I swear, if we blink, it will be Christmas again! I'm not ready for that one, not yet! Anyway, not much news on my front to update you with and even though it was a quiet week in the blog world too, I did find some great and interesting posts! Not to mention some killer recipes, which I wish I could put them all in the Finisher, but I can't; that's what following me on Pinterest is for! So I won't hold you up here in the intro, I'll let you get to the reading, clicking, and pinning! Happy Friday, happy weekend, and happy Friday Finisher! XOXO

Thanks so much for including my focaccia pizza, Rebecca! Choosing between summer and the holiday season is TOUGH. I found myself so looking forward to the cold weather the other day, but it's the opposite come wintertime. As for the kitchen appliance I couldn't live with - does a dishwasher count? Because it's a life saver!

Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞 So Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞

So many people still confuse the two, but it’s an autoimmune disease, not an allergy. That means gluten doesn’t cause an immediate allergic reaction resulting in hives or swelling…it causes your immune system to attack your small intestine longterm.

This distinction matters because:
👉 There’s no medication or quick fix
👉 The only treatment is a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet
👉 Mislabeling it as an “allergy” is scientifically incorrect. There is no such thing as a gluten allergy.

Swipe through to learn why the distinction is inportant and why accurate education and awareness is paramount. Let’s set the record straight and not mislabel our disease when speaking about it. 💛
