Power Monday #38 Rep It Out: 124

Published: Mar 24, 2014 · Modified: Jul 23, 2017 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

To start off my weekend, I had a pretty awesome Friday! Easy day at school, great workout, great food, and I got accepted into another college! This one is in my prime location too...WASHINGTON DC! I'm still waiting to hear back from 6 more...yea I know, haha, I applied to a lot. But that was because we couldn't visit any, except 3, and we need to find the best financial option for us. But man, I have some decisions to make already! Getting those letters really boosts your ego! I felt great all weekend because of it!

IMG_4118ipAnd here are some awesome meals I had this weekend that I must share! From left to right: A new amazing pancake recipe that I will be sharing soon...it's in the line-up! It is veggie packed 😉 Then Saturday's dinner was fabulous. A big piece of salmon with smoked paprika, fenugreek, and basil. With brown rice cooked with eggplant, a beet, and celery! Plus some random cheery tomatoes, sprouts, and avocado on the side. Sunday morning I knew I wanted pancakes again and I remembered I had some frozen mashed purple sweet potato in the freezer. Instead of the traditional PSPcakes I made coffee flavored buckwheat PSPcakes! So good 🙂

And did you take a look up at my page bar? See that new section there on the end? Yea! I made a page dedicated to all things yoga. Go check it out, it is full of resources, videos, websites, my yoga posts, and more to come! I also did some editing on the other pages under the Favorites tab, so go check those out too! Then on Sunday I ended up having 2 very important phone calls. One was for the Lifestyle Accountability Show and another was something very unexpected. I don't want to jinx it or say anything about it just yet, but I should be able to share next week or even later this week! Let's just say I went to bed very very happy on Sunday night which is a great way to head in to a new week!

Power MondayNow for Power Monday! This always happens. I have tons of great leg and lower body circuits and then have boring upper body ones. Then I come up with tons of great upper body and get bored with the lower body. So I was in dire need of something new for the legs. Whats a girl to do when this happens? Create a new workout! This one was random, fun, and thought up on the spot, but ended up being really effective and fun! The only conundrum I had was naming it. Workouts are way harder to name than recipes, that's for sure. I tried to think of something witty, but that didn't work. However it is March 24th and the rep scheme is 124, so hey, a little connection there 😉 I try my best, I really do.

Rep It Out: 124 | Strength and SunshineYup, that's right! 124 reps of each exercise! You can split them up however you like. I superseted 2 or 3 exercises at a time doing 20 reps for 6 rounds. However you split it up though, you will feel the burn 😉

Notes:

+ For the weighted donkey kick, just put a dumbbell (I used 8lbs but I think 10 would have been better) in the crease of you bend leg, then just pulse it up.

+ For the weight bridge lifts, place your calves on the ball and a heavy dumbbell of plate on your hips. Then just keep your arms flat on the floor and use your glutes and hamstrings to lift you hips until your body is a straight slope.

So tell me:

How many colleges did you apply to? My total number came to 13!

What do you do when your workout routine needs a little spicing up?

This was the first time I actually tried them! I always did donkey kicks but I totally needed to amp them up!

Holy crap that's a lot of reps!!! But that's coming from me, a powerlifter who thinks anything over 10 is a lot 😉

I applied to just one college. I visited four, I think but in the end I knew which one I wanted. Good luck to you!

Thank you! I think I am going to have a hard decision to make!
Haha, I like doing higher reps vs. maxing out with a few 😉

Congrats on the college acceptances! That is great! I only applied to a few, but I knew where I wanted to go.
That workout looks like a good one. I enjoy doing circuit workouts, it keeps it fun and I can change up the exercises pretty easily! In fact that was the topic of my post today!

Congrats on being accepted to school. I applied to 5-6 schools I believe, but I did early decision so once I got my acceptance, I knew where I was going early in the year thankfully!

That is so nerve racking with early decision! But if you definetly know 100% it is what you want, it is a great option 🙂

Dangggg 13 sounds like a lot... but is it a lot these days? When I was applying for colleges in 1999 (eek!!), I applied to 3.

It depends! Some apply to a lot and some apply to only a handful, its still a mixed bag!

Congrats on more acceptances, girl!! I just received my last acceptance letter on Saturday, so I'm pumped to start the decision-making process. I applied to 6 schools only, but I think I've already narrowed it down to my top three.
This workout looks awesome (and burn-tastic)! Thanks for sharing it!
