Hey there! Happy Tuesday. So we have a delayed opening at school today due to the huge amount of snow we got yesterday. But I won't be going in at all actually. I am going to the orthopedist to get my foot looked at and hopefully x-rayed. Yes, my foot/heel/ankle is still not healed and it still hurts like hell to walk. But I have not let that stop me from doing my normal everyday routine of walking in school, taking stairs, driving, and completely normal workouts. Sunday night my ankle was completely swollen after I got our of the shower. It was the first time I actually looked closely at my ankle, haha. But I wore my PRO Compression socks to bed and iced it and the swelling was down in the morning. I probably have a stress fracture...but we will find out later today hopefully. On a lighter note, Amanda posted this fun 39 questions survey last week and it looked fun to do! She always finds the best surveys π Let's all sit back and enjoy the randomness that is about to follow.
1. Were you named after anyone?
Yes! My parents absolutely loved country music back in the day. One of their favorite artists was Reba McEntire. Thus, they named me Rebecca. I have to say, I love my name. I always hear people complain about their names, but I love mine. It isn't to common, but not crazy weird. It is perfect, just don't call me Becca, Bec, or Becky...ugh not cool! My mom told me that if I had been a boy, she would have named me Nichols/Nick! (Omg...that name I hate, haha!)
2. When was the last time you cried?
O, I cry all the time! I can't help it. Even the littlest thing will set me off. I always get choked up and have to fight back tears most of the time. I could just be talking about something that isn't even a really big deal, but alas the flood gates always open. I have no control.
3. Do you like your handwriting?
Eh, I don't know. My hand writing I feel still looks "not-adult". Like my signature, haha, forget it! It looks like a three year old's cursive. That is another thing. Cursive. No one writes that way anymore and there are debates on whether or not to complete faze it out. But I hate it and will only write in good old print. On the SAT and all that stuff they make you write a confidential statement...in cursive...and it always takes everyone like 15 minutes to write those 3 sentences! Haha, please phase it out!
4. What is your favorite lunch meat?
Ew, that is a really gross phrase...lunch meat. Um, none for me, I don;t eat cold-cuts. But I guess if I really had to choose, a tuna fish sandwich would be okay...if that counts.
5. Do you have kids?
Nope, and I don't think I will ever want any when the time comes.
6. If you were another person, would you be friends with you?
I am a pretty interesting person, so of course!
7. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
I feel like I do hear on the blog a lot, but not much in real-person. I don;t really like it. It is annoying when you actually are talking to someone and just start spouting it off. It usually isn't funny.
8. Do you still have your tonsils?
I have all of my body parts, thank you very much π
9. Would you bungee jump?
I think bungee jumping is scarier than sky-diving. I would sky-dive in a second! It would be so absolutely amazing to see the world that way...falling through the sky. (Even though heights sometimes creep me out). But bungee jumping just seems really dangerous. What if the cord just snaps and you fall on to a bunch of sharp rocks or rushing river? I would have to think about that one.
10 What is your favorite cereal?
What! I can't pick just one. Even though cereal isn't my favorite breakfast anymore (pancakes and waffles please!), I still have my favorites. But at this exact moment I love my Nature's Path's Mesa Sunshine (always and forever) and Barbara's Honey Rice Puffins!
11. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?
I used to never since I always wore big bulky Nikes, but now I always wear my Reebok trainers and can't just slip them off. (I still tie bunny ears too...which is the best!) If I can avoid untieing my shoes though, that is what I will always do! That is just another reason why I love the summer! Flip-Flops all around!
12. Do you think you are strong?
Well considering the name of my blog is Strength and Sunshine, I like to think I am. But there is always room to get stronger both inside and out. Pumping iron and handling life, it is all about strength!
13. What is your favorite ice cream?
As you know, I am not a sweets person, so I haven't had any ice cream (vegan or not) in a very long time. But I did always have a thing for some Coffee ice cream with little marshmallows mixed in until they become a bit frozen π
14. What is the first thing you notice about other people?
How they hold themselves. For example: standing up straight and confident and can give a good handshake. Or unsure of themselves and scared to make eye contact.
15. Red or pink?
That depends on what it is. I used to be so anti-pink when I was younger, but now I like it. (My blog is even pink, haha!) Both colors can be beautiful.
16. What is your least favorite thing about yourself?
The random stupid stress and anxiety I put on myself or let get to me.
17. AnyΒ tattoos?
No. I want my body to be clean and beautiful. No tattoos and random ink seeping into my skin, thank you.
18. Do you have any hobbies?
Blogging (duh!), cooking (duh!), yoga (duh!), strength training (duh!), reading (I wish this was still my number one).
19. What color shoes are you wearing?
I am not wearing shoes! I have warm fuzzy red and white stripped socks on π
20. What was the last thing you ate?
I am eating dinner as I type this! A dinner bowl consisting of spinach, broccoli, yellow grape tomatoes, celery, beets, cooked cheezy lentils with gallons of nutritional yeast, stoneground mustard, sauerkraut, turmeric, smoked paprika, and pumpkin seeds! Plus a brown rice tortilla microwaved and coated with cinnamon. Yum π
21. What are you listening to right now?
Silence π
22. If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Sunset Orange π I have one of those 99 Crayon boxes. To bad I don't use it! Coloring can be pretty relaxing.
23. Favorite smells?
I am copying Amanda here with the cinnamon, coffee, and gasoline smells! I am also very fond of a baked PSP straight from the micro π
24. Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?
Wow, I have no idea, I never talk on the phone. But I believe it was with my interviewer for Duke University this weekend! (This call happened like 3 weeks ago haha!)
25. Mountain hideaway or beach house?
Um, beach house hands down. Not even up for debate.
26. Favorite sport to watch?
Really, none. I really hate watching things. Like I really don't ever "watch" TV. I only have, say, CNN on in the mornings and while I workout so I can just listen. I hate watching movies and find it just so boring. I get to restless just sitting there. So when it comes to sports...no, just no.
27. Hair color?
I am a brunette, baby! Even though I am totally against dying your hair, I have always wondered what I would look like blonde...hmmm π
28. Eye colors?
I love how this question is plural! My are blue, but can turn greenish depending on the environment and what I'm wearing.
29. Do you wear contacts?
No way! 20/20! At least I hope so π
30. Scary movies or happy endings?
Well if I do ever watch a movie, it has to be something horrifying to even semi keep my interest.
31. Last movie you watched?
Haha, these questions all relate. Well, I believe it was World War Z. My mom had it from Netflix and needed to watch it so she could sent it back. I decided I would watch and do some work on the computer. Well the computer won out there. That movie did not really keep my interest. Not scary what-so-ever.
32. What color shirt are you wearing?
I have a big night T-shirt on. It is my brown level YMCA Fitlinxx award shirt. Plus I have my cozy grey with white polka-dots robe on π
33. Summer or winter?
Why even ask this question. if you don't know my answer by now, you must be a new reader, haha! SUMMMMER!!!!!!!
34. Hugs or kisses?
Hugs! I love getting hugs. Nothing beats a warm tight embrace from a loved one π
35. Computer or television?
Computer...obviously. I need it every day all day. Blogging = computer. However I wish I didn't have to use (or wasn't addicted to) any technology. I want the old days. A real book, a handwritten letter, a good Polaroid photo...yea, the good ol' days.
36. What book are you reading right now?
Still (since Christmas) the book my brother got me, The Last Man. It is really good, but I still have about 100 pages left :/ P.S. Friend me on Goodreads!
37. Whatβs on your mouse pad?
Well I have a laptop, so no mouse pad here. Which, looking at my laptop reminds me I really need to clean this things. Food and smudges all over!
38. What color is your house?
It is like a tannish type color. It was white when we bought it, and then we got new crappy vinyl siding that totally sucks. The company who did it really dropped the ball on that project.
39. What color is your car?
O my car. Well the one I use is a 1995 green Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is so horrible too. No heat, no horn, the front flood light is hanging off (from school vandalism), the seat belt is always broken, in the summer it was over run with ants, the driver side mirror is broken (more vandalism). I hate that thing. The only redeeming quality is that it has a V-8 engine π
So tell me:
What is you favorite cereal?
Do you like watching movies and TV?
What book are you reading right now? Anything I should put on my list?

I am loving this survey! I keep seeing people do it, so I might join in on the fun for sure!!
I hope that your ankle is okay! That is such a bummer!
I would have to say that honestly my favorite cereal is Lucky Charms. It really is...lol no shame. I can't say I've had it in years though b/c it has basically zero nutritional benefits, but I'm sure I'll have some again one day!
So I totally get what you are saying about kids! I'm only 21, so even thinking about that type of life is scary, and at the moment I can safely say that I do not want any kids. However, I'm sure in 10 years time I will change my mind lol, as do most people. My main reasons for not wanting them in general, though, are because of the actual birthing process, which totally grosses me out, and how frickin' annoying some little kids can be. IFFF I have any, I would only have 2 at the VERY most lol. But again, who knows....but I feel like I always have to have somewhat of an open mind lol.
Anyways enough of that tangent hahah!
Have a great day
strengthandsunshine
I had this post ready over the weekend and had only seen 2 other bloggers do it, and then...EXPLOSIONS, everyone was doing it, haha! Word travels fast with us nosy bloggers π
Thanks for the wishes! XOXO
No shame in having a nutritionally deficit cereal love, we all do!
As for kids, yea, it just does not seem like my thing. If my kid was independent enough, I think I would be kicking them out on the curb....not very motherly...or legal, haha! My mom is worried she won't have any grandchildren. Her only other hope is for my brother to get married and such, haha!
lovenataliemarie
First off, I hope all goes well with your ankle. I know what it's like, it suuuucks. Positive thoughts though! π
I like my name too, especially in Spanish. It may not be the most "unique," but it fits me. π
I'm with ya on the crying. I seriously was making oatmeal while watching Frozen and started crying when "Do You Wanna Build A Snowman?" came on. What.
You're gorgeous!
I need to find Puffins. Everyone seems to have them, while I'm like... I have Fruity Pebbles. π
We have a lot of hobbies in common!
Oh the good 'ol days..
strengthandsunshine
Thanks for the thoughts π (I'll update you'll on Friday). I love your name! It is so pretty π
As for Puffins....I really only love the honey rice (because they are GF and just so perfect tasting) The multi-grain ones are gluten-free too, but are really filling...really filling.
I wish they would just switch the oats out of the other flavors and make them gluten-free like the honey rice and multi-grain. They obviously have the clean facilities and ability to do so.....their stubborn! I asked them about it on Twitter and they were like, "well they are wheat-free" and I was like um no! I need them to be Gluten-Free!
Kim
I'm with you - summer and a beach house!!!
I just finished a book this morning (gotta love snow days!) and haven't decided what to start next - so many lined up in my Nook just waiting.
strengthandsunshine
Choosing the next read is always difficult, haha!
Kristy @ Southern In Law
I actually hate watching TV, but I'm happy to watch a movie every now and again. As I can't eat out at restaurants with all of my allergies, we usually head to the movies on date nights π
At the moment I'm loving granola but I have a million and one other boxes of cereal in our cupboards because I am a cereal killer! Puffins are so so good - but I once had a disastrous accident when I accidentally ate my sister's gluten containing puffins instead of my gluten free ones. I totally freaked out and didn't know what to do haha.
strengthandsunshine
That happened to me too, but with Erewhon's crispy brown rice cereal! This was in the first year I was GF and I bought the box because it said wheat-free (but didn't say gluten-free) and I just didn't realize. I ate it and suffered the horrible consequences....bad times. I wish Barbara's made their peanut butter puffins and cinnamon puffins totally gluten-free like the honey rice! It is not fair, I hear such great things about those flavors!
GiGi Eats Celebrities
OMG I 100000% do not want kids either!! It's so funny when I tell people this because they always say, "oh you will" - But no, no, I REALLY TRULY do not think I ever will!!! Oh and my eyes too turn green depending on what I am wearing! So weird right - but we are unique and it's awesome!
strengthandsunshine
I get so uncomfortable around little kids and they are just so....annoying. I want to focus on being a big career women anyway!
Eyes are pretty interesting body parts haha!
GiGi Eats Celebrities
OMG I LOVE YOU! We need to be best friends because YOU GET ME!!! I cannot be near children. If I hear them, I HAVE TO LEAVE! lol!
strengthandsunshine
Haha yes! If they are quiet and independent like I was a a baby/toddler/kid then its okay, but the majority of kids are loud horrible germy and obnoxious! Hahaha!
Xiomara @ Parkesdale
I have to agree with you on the beach house vs. mountains. Even tough we live in Florida, I feel like we don't go to the beach enough.
strengthandsunshine
O I am so jealous that you live in Florida! But yes, just being able to breathe in the sea air and listen to the waves crash would be pure bliss!
