Dear Me, In 2015

Published: Dec 31, 2014 · Modified: Jul 23, 2017 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

Dear Me,

As 2014 comes to a close in just a few hours, I think it's time to look ahead into the brand new opportunities awaiting when you wake-up tomorrow. Even though you know I don't like setting "resolutions" or defined and time constrained goals, I do believe in that sense of newness and a fresh start that just surrounds January 1st. With that sense of a fresh start, stating little intentions and wishes (with no pressure) is always fun to do. Just some wishes for the new year to guide and give purpose and possible direction. So here are my wishes for you, my 2015 self:

Dear Me, In 2015 | Strength and Sunshine @RebeccaGF666

Blogging:

+ Make a real and updated media kit (because you really need to do that ASAP!)

+ Get business cards made.

+ Continue reorganizing my Pinterest boards and get 10,000 followers!

+ This is broad, but update and organize the blog. (It really needs love and attention and you have been completely neglected it).

Fitness:

+ Sign-up and run in an official 5K (although virtual ones are fun too!).

+ Run a 10K (You ran a glorious 4 miles last Sunday. New PR in 46:44 minutes, fastest mile of 11:30 minutes, fastest 5K in 36:03 minutes. Yea, I think the reason you are having an "easy" time running just once a week and feeling awesome is because you are in such great shape to begin with. I am so mad it took you so long to get started! This also makes me think how "easy" a 10K distance may be. Distance really isn't bad....well as long as you keep your "Rebecca Pace" 😉

+ Leg press double your body weight. (Pretty close to it!)

+ Start practicing pull-ups (because you never do them!)

+ Check out a few more yoga studios (although I'm skeptical about the whole studio thing. I don't think it works for you. Your more of a "yoga-loner").

Life:

+ Give yourself a break and stop fearing the future. You're not stuck anywhere. You can do anything.

+ Smile and laugh more. (Because it's beautiful).

+ Focus on what makes YOU happy and don't let anything, anything or anyone, stop you from doing and achieving what you want and love!

+ Instead of that memory jar (which you completed all 365 days. One Post-It at a time), commit to your new Q&A a Day 5 Year Journal.

Q&A a Day 5 Year Journal | Strength and Sunshine @RebeccaGF666

2014 wasn't bad. It brought a ton of changes, experiences, and opportunities. However, I'm curious and ready to see what 2015 has in-store. A year to grow learn and discover. Most importantly, I want you to know just how much I believe in you. I want you to remember how strong, beautiful, confident, creative, brave, adapting, and intelligent you are.

Best wishes and love in the new year my dear friend,

Your Wise 2014 Self XOXO

So tell me:

+ What are your wishes for your 2015 self?

Lovely goals, Rebecca. I might have to steal a few of your life-related goals, I think we can all use those! Thanks for sharing them with us. There is something in putting them out there that makes them more real too! I have A LOT of work to do on my blog too this year and some of it's boring and tedious like re-organizing and updating old posts, but it will be worth it when I'm done. All the best in 2015!!

Wonderful goals! It's January 1 and I'm just starting to put my thoughts together about my own goals for the year. I love your Memory Jar. I have a God Box - not something I do daily, but I'd like to put more energy into it this year. I think my biggest problem has been taking on too much. I need to scale back - do a good job at a few things rather than a mediocre/sloppy job at a lot of things. Anyway - I enjoy reading about your journey, and I hope you have a beautiful year! xoxo

I totally agree with you on focusing on being better and doing a good job in a few things, rather than throwing our energy in to many directions! Much more productive and fulfilling!

I love this post! I actually need to do all those blogging things too. I will also tell you, since I'm about 15 years older than you I think, that not fearing the future is a hard one to conquer (maybe especially for some personality types?) I still find myself fearing and avoiding, but having experience now I am more aware of this and also less hard on myself.

My wishes to myself are go get 'em, don't be scared, and be vulnerable. Plus keep running and cooking and don't forget yoga 🙂

Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞 So Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞

So many people still confuse the two, but it’s an autoimmune disease, not an allergy. That means gluten doesn’t cause an immediate allergic reaction resulting in hives or swelling…it causes your immune system to attack your small intestine longterm.

This distinction matters because:
👉 There’s no medication or quick fix
👉 The only treatment is a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet
👉 Mislabeling it as an “allergy” is scientifically incorrect. There is no such thing as a gluten allergy.

Swipe through to learn why the distinction is inportant and why accurate education and awareness is paramount. Let’s set the record straight and not mislabel our disease when speaking about it. 💛
