The Perks Of Working Out At H.O.M.E.

Published: Feb 20, 2014 · Modified: Dec 24, 2014 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

Big Buff Guy: "What gym to you pump iron at?"

Me: "Gym? Please. I CRUSH iron at H.O.M.E.!"

Big Buff Guy: "Really? I have never heard of H.O.M.E?"

Me: "O, it is the best. Let me tell you why..."

The Perks Of Working Out At Home

Perk #1 - Any time, any place. Want to workout in the living room go ahead, want to workout in the bathroom, you can do that too!

Perk #2 - You don't have to wear special attire. Working out in pjs is the way to go! You don't have to set out your clothes the night before to motivate yourself, just jump out of bed and go. If you sleep naked, don't worry, that is 100% acceptable.

Perk #3 - You don't have to freeze your butt off to go outside, get in the car, and walk in. That saves money to. No need to get gas!

Perk #4 - All the equipment, all the time. Want to use those dumbbells? Need some floor space for kettlebell swings? Well you don't have to wait or tell people to get the hell out of you way! No waiting for the kid on the leg press, texting pictures of his muscles, to get off or actually start working out! Bye-bye equipment hoggers!

20130630-235729

Perk #5 - Less germs. Those dumbbells that you just grabbed are not infested with the germy grip sweat of the meat-head who flexes in the mirror. It just has your own sweat!

Perk #6 - Speaking of meat-heads...they won't be a bother to you! No grunting and yelling or slamming down barbells. Now of course you might be a meat-head and do this stuff yourself, but at least no one else is around to hear it!

http://www.quickmeme.com/img/2e/2e379dc63baa0ccb0b4f849d24a90f2dc521b02e86098f12088e6ef471c13662.jpg

Perk #7 - You have access to all the classes! Didn't get there early enough for a Spin bike? Psh, well you have your own personal one with everything set and ready to go! Feel like some TRX? All you need is to buy the straps and hang them up! Or maybe you feel like doing some Zumba but don't want to look like an uncoordinated baby giraffe. Well just pop in a DVD and jam out! No one is there to judge your moves and grooves...while in your pjs!

Perk #8 - You don't have to deal with all the gym gossip that goes on in those cliquey classes like yoga, Pilates, or Spin. No, you just get to talk to yourself about how awesome you are!

http://cdn2.gossipcenter.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/story_header/photos/reese-watts-020614sp.jpg

Perk #9 - You don't have to workout next to the non-deodorant wearers! Speaking of hygiene...you also don't have to worry about running into naked old women in the locker room. I think that speaks for itself.

Perk #10 - No people to talk to or get distracted by! You can get in your workout in record time. No women on her cell phone chating about her new boob job while walking at the pace of a snail on the treadmill. No newbies asking you how to turn on the treadmill. No snotty desk assistant telling you you can't use the gym until you put money toward you contract.  So this way, the only person you can blame for getting delayed or distracted is yourself!

Big Buff Guy: "Well that does sound pretty beast! How do I join?"

Me: "Just go home! O and make sure you pay your mortgage...that's you contract."

So tell me:

Where do you work out?

*P.S. This is a humorous post. I have no intention of offending anyone, Just writing for some fun and laughs!*

    Hi Rebecca,
My favorite perk regarding working out at home is that you don't have to look cute or get dressed in cool workout wear when you work out at home. That's a big plus for me. Thank you so much for sharing this fun and fitting post on the Healthy, Happy, Green & Natural Blog Hop! I appreciate it!

Me too! In fact, I recently turned my stamping studio into an exercise room complete with my Wii and my DVD player. I find I’m MUCH more motivated to exercise if I can do it in my bare feet and my jammies. My top floor is set up so I can just walk a big lap around from the living room to the hallway. Apparently, my Mom used to do the same thing because the first thing my older son said when he saw me doing it is “You’re nuts, just like Nana used to be!”. Well, I can’t think of anyone else I’d want to be nuts like! #SITSSharefest

I LOVE workout out at H.O.M.E.! I used to work out at the university rec center but I got tired of being the "old lady" in the locker room causing the young girls to recoil in horror (although I wasn't ever completely nekked, just in my skivvies after my shower). I wanted to tell them that someday, if they're lucky, they'll be middle aged, too!

Haha, when I did used to do my workouts in the gym. I would always be in the zone doing whatever and all of a sudden I hear some loud slam and grunt and totally lose my focus. The funny thing is, it was always the older men that would be like that, haha, not the younger guys.

I'm totally spoiled with a complete home gym, and as I'm such a homebody, it works great for me! I love working out on the elliptical and stationary bike in slippers instead of shoes, of always being able to watch what I want (and pause it and come back to it), of leaving things where I want (shoes, mat, dumbbells). It's also good for quick/multiple workouts. I'll pop down first thing, then do mommy stuff, then hit the elliptical for 20 minutes again. Do some laundry and blogging, then go to the treadmill. Do some more stuff, then go ride the bike. I'm always around if the I get a call, or if the kids need me. It's great!

Exactly! I have all I need at home too! My barbell and plates, a huge rack of dumbbells, a yoga mat, stability ball, stationary bike for quick HIIT, a kettlebell, a pull-up bar. It is good even though I have little floor space, I make it work and love that I can take breaks and multi-task during certain workouts!

Love this - funny (and actually some truth for sure!).
I work out at home and the best part is the fact that at 5:00am I just throw on some shorts and sports bra and I'm ready to go - no driving, no cold.....

Haha love this! This is exactly why I have a treadmill - I can't deal with other people when I'm just trying to get through 11 miles and have no mental capacity left for anything else. Plus, people are gross! I do go to a Barre3 studio for my cross training workouts but it's really small, nice, and populated only by people with good hygiene so I'm down.

Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞 So Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞

So many people still confuse the two, but it’s an autoimmune disease, not an allergy. That means gluten doesn’t cause an immediate allergic reaction resulting in hives or swelling…it causes your immune system to attack your small intestine longterm.

This distinction matters because:
👉 There’s no medication or quick fix
👉 The only treatment is a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet
👉 Mislabeling it as an “allergy” is scientifically incorrect. There is no such thing as a gluten allergy.

Swipe through to learn why the distinction is inportant and why accurate education and awareness is paramount. Let’s set the record straight and not mislabel our disease when speaking about it. 💛
