Friday Finisher 10/3/14

Published: Oct 3, 2014 · Modified: Jan 3, 2020 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

This week was going alright until Thursday night when I got an email basically telling I should drop my microeconomics class because it is projected that I will fail the course. Lovely. I really don't know the point of that, since if I dropped I wouldn't even be a student anymore. But I am not going to let that ruin my weekend. (Which does involve a huge packet for that said class, a UW paper, and studying for my world history mid-term. O the joys await!) I had grand plans of traipsing over to the White House to see whats been happening with all those shenanigans over there lately, but the forecast is rainy and cold. :/ This week is going to the gutter.

Besides all that, I know I have a fun giveaway for you all next week so be on the look out! I'm also going to randomly state my obsession with adding tahini to everything! Soom Foods Tahini is the bomb. I've just been slathering it on chicken, fish, potatoes, you name it. I already have an open jar, but I randomly won a giveaway (that I don't remember entering) and won a new jar that came this week! Woohoo tahini abundance! (They have chocolate tahini which I need to try...or I could just add my own cocoa powder to my original...)

And now I'm off to go teach my UW class about analyzing the social sciences in essay writing with my partner Pierre. Should be a good time. See you all Monday!

+ Tea. Thank god for tea. Like I mentioned above, I need to lay off the coffee. I stopped drinking it for years due to my horrible reflux and messed up digestive track system. Obviously drinking more than one cup a day was a bad idea. Thus, tea is my drink of choice for the time being 😛

+ Again, working out has been feeling so good. Lifting weights is definitely the highlight of my week! (Even though I closed my finger in the cable hook and now it's black and blue...) Haha!

So tell me:

+ Latest food obsession? Tahini.

I can relate to the long, thin hair and needing recommendations for hair products--I enjoyed Julie's article as well. And the most iconic food of each state? I LOVE articles like that! Of course my home state of AR got Southern Fried Catfish. Mmmm....not going to lie, even though I'm a healthy eater at heart, I'm also a true Southern girl and there are few things in life that beat my mother's lightly pan fried catfish (or bass...or crappie...or bluegill...etc.)

And since you are drinking tea, I want to tell you that I just bought Trader Joe's pumpkin tea, and it is wonderful. Not really pumpkin-y as much as the spices and feel of cider. I love it after dinner as a substitute for dessert. Have a great weekend Rebecca!

Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞 So Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞

So many people still confuse the two, but it’s an autoimmune disease, not an allergy. That means gluten doesn’t cause an immediate allergic reaction resulting in hives or swelling…it causes your immune system to attack your small intestine longterm.

This distinction matters because:
👉 There’s no medication or quick fix
👉 The only treatment is a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet
👉 Mislabeling it as an “allergy” is scientifically incorrect. There is no such thing as a gluten allergy.

Swipe through to learn why the distinction is inportant and why accurate education and awareness is paramount. Let’s set the record straight and not mislabel our disease when speaking about it. 💛
