Friday Finisher 6/5/15

Published: Jun 5, 2015 · Modified: Jan 2, 2020 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

I totally did not know it was National Doughnut Day on June 5th (today), when I posted my Triple Chocolate Doughnut recipe last week! Finally, I was ahead of the game with these foodie holidays! So I urge you to make either these Gingerbread Doughnuts or the Triple Chocolate right now!

Besides doughnut baking, I've been crazy in the kitchen all week. I consider it my birthday gift to myself too, just living out the joy! That's right, my birthday is tomorrow! Hello 19! I really don't plan on doing anything though and just want my usual slow Saturday. Good news is that the weather is forecasted to be perfect! 80 degrees and sunny. I hope to go on a walk and breath, feeling the ground under my feet. That would be nice. Plus some pancakes and my longest day of yoga practice as usual. I'll make it a good day this year for sure!

Anyway, here's this week's finisher (packed as usual), but full of goodness to keep you not bored all weekend long! Keep these Friday Finishers bookmarked to refer back to anytime you get a free moment or two to catch up on some good reads!

A few things I loved about my week or am grateful for:

+ I finished Breaking Bad on Netflix, was totally not impressed with the ending...Why did everyone like it so much? So now I started Prison Break on Netflix! I had seen the first season and some of the second when it originally aired years ago, but due to my dance schedule, I was never home at night to watch it. So for years I've been dying to see it again, the whole thing this time. Such a killer show!

+ I went on my longest driving journey this week, didn't get lost (woohoo!), driving is like riding a bike, it does come back!

So tell me:

+ How will you be celebrating National Doughnut Day? The new recipe I made has been my breakfast yesterday and today 😉

+ Watching any good TV series on Netflix? On Wednesday while I was in the kitchen ALL day cooking, I had Prison Break on which was playing on my laptop on the counter. It was a nice little "work" set up!

Wow so much yumminess in this post! I knew it was donut day and was debating it and we were going to make some but this week is just so crazy and we are heading out of town so I was going to pick some up but little A isn't feeling well. Of course she woke up feeling better, not sure if it is the antibiotics or the fact she has a field trip for school but we took the girls to school and my husband and I ran to grab donuts and we are going to have them for dinner on the way up to the cabin. LOL

    Happy early birthday!

I haven't been on Netflix for awhile but I loved the series, "The Borgia's" and anything BBC. On Hulu I watched, "Gavin and Stacy," seriously one of the best sitcoms ever (British of course) I must have been born across the pond in another life. I am grateful that you highlighted my post and trust me, I having the HARDEST time taking my own advise-- you know I wrote that for myself because I have a problem. Might try to find time to whip up some doughnuts today, I'm always late on these fun little holidays but seeing your insta the other day reminded me! Right off the bat the plantain tortillas and strawberry soup caught my eye. I've never thought about a sweet soup but why not, right? Also since you mentioned farmer's markets that might just be a great idea for a meetup this summer 🙂

Have you watched any of these?
Chef- its a movie that I think is done by Disney, but it super cute. I really enjoyed it and it's on Netflix!
Chef's Table- Netflix series on different chefs. Watch the 2nd episode before any other ones. It was my fave.
Young and Hungry- Totally silly show, but it's good for mindless watching and also on Netflix

Literally, what are we doing if we’re not combining the two coziest quick breads into one? Naturally moist and sweet from real pumpkin and ripe bananas, which makes it perfect for a gluten-free recipe that needs extra moisture and an eggless recipe since pumpkin and banana are OG vegan egg replacements! This gluten-free pumpkin banana bread is a blank slate for any cozy add-ins you can dream of, but its simplicity is what makes it shine on its own! 😋🙌
