I am not a techie-blogger. I am scared to death to go in to the inner-depths of the blog where all the CSS, HTML, plugins and coding are. I'm literally scared that if I even click to open a certain page, my blog may just blow-up and all will be lost. I hold my breath just updating plugins! At least my blogging "behind the scene" maintenance anxiety doesn't have to be a major hurdle anymore. Obviously, I love WordPress and it is the best blogging platform to have. As for web hosting, when I converted to self-hosting last year, I when with HostGator and I have never looked back. I loved them from day one and have always had the greatest, easiest support from them. So I'm excited to share info about the new HostGator Optimized WordPress hosting platform!
So what is it exactly? With this optimized platform there are some new great features that make blogging stress-free and easy so you won't get the "behind the scene" maintenance anxiety.
+ Automatic updates for plugins, themes, and WordPress
+ Sitelock malware scanning and removal
+ Sitelock Content Delivery Network (CDN)
+ CodeGuard daily backup and restores (down to the file level) <--- Yes, please!
This new premium platform was created to specifically optimize and help easily manage everything in WordPress. Hostgator will be doing all the worry-work for you, so you can sit back and focus on writing content, not updating and worrying about back-ups and security! And now you don't even need to have the extra burden of logging into a separate HostGator cPanel, since HostGator will be doing any management on that part for you! For more in-depth info on the new platform, check out this link!
Of course, you get all the wonderful features of HostGator that drew me to choose and trust them, with my blog baby, in the first place.
+ 24/7 live support via online chat, phone, or email. <--- I remember, one or two days after switching over and having to call for some help at 6am. They were there and got everything straightened out in a snap! I knew I'd made a great decision choosing them!
+ One click WordPress installs - no messy downloading and uploading of files.
+ One click and start, easy-to-use website builder (drag and drop tools that make building a site easy as pie).
+ Design services. You can have a professional do it for you if that's not your thing!
+ Marketing services (including SEO and PPC) by experts in the field, helping you generate the traffic you want.
+ Domains. You can register your domain right through HostGator <--- Which is what I did!
HostGator makes blog maintenance, hosting, and management as stress-free as possible. Anytime someone is switching hosts or beginning blogging, I am always the girl to recommend, loud and proud, to go with HostGator! I seriously have had only great experiences with them and now with this Optimized WordPress platform, even greater experiences are to come!
So tell me:
+ Are you a HostGator lover? Yes and always!
+ Do you get the "behind the scene" blog maintenance anxiety like me?
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Hmm, this is very interesting. I'm planning on going self-hosted some time in the future, so will have to look into these guys. Thank you. #brilliantblogposts
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I can't recommend HostGator as your host enough!

Wow sounds like HostGator is a great hosting company - I like the stress free maintenance & all of the positive comments here. Very informational post! #brilliantblogposts
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
They're great!
Emma @ Life, kids and a glass of red
Thanks for the tips. I too am nervous about doing stuff to my blog that may accidentally cause it all to disappear or change the formatting! I've been blogging for less than 6 months so these tips are timely 🙂 #brilliantblogposts
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Well I hope you go with HostGator!
Nikki Frank-Hamilton
I love HostGator too, I've completely screwed up my blog 2 times, HostGator uploaded my back up saving the day! Then I needed help with reconstruction of my blog, crazy stuff I had no idea how to do, it took 2 hours but they walked me through it and got it done. I love HostGator!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Woohoo! 3 cheers for HostGator!
Susan Langer
I'm glad you have had a positive experience with Hostgator. Unfortunately my experience was not s positive. 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
That sucks.

I used to be terrified of losing everything and that is probably natural with newbies. It does make a difference thought when you can make your blog maintenance stress free.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
It totally does!

[ Smiles ] Having the right type of plugin for your blog can make a huge difference.
By the way, if you are scared of dabbling with HTML and CSS codes, you can always ask a knowledgeable friend to help you.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha, yea, sure.

Thanks for the great information. I've been thinking about switching hosts when my current plan expires. I was looking into Blue Host, but now I'll check out HostGator.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Totally make it an option!
Amanda
I'm getting ready to switch hosts { I'm with weebly now and they aren't very "blog" oriented } I want to go with wordpress and I appreciate you sharing this to help with my decision ! I love your blog name too !!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
O goodness! Yes! You need to switch everything now! If you want to grow as a blogger, weebly will not get you there, haha!
Thank you!
Amanda
Yes I!! I'm starting to realize that... It's pretty bad when the host says you are doing the best I've ever say for a blog with the little SEO that you are using... OMG !!! I can't wait !
Gail Akeman
I have Hostgator. This is all new to me.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I hope you look at this new option!
Jelli
I know how you feel! I started out terrified of all things coding, but have actually learned alot over my 8 years blogging. Actually, just today I added an after-post widget area to my site and felt pretty excited about it. When I do "break" my site, I'm grateful that I use DreamHost and can click a "restore" button that will restore my site to a time within 1 hour to 1 day prior. It's nice to know not all is lost!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I'm only at 2 years...but maybe if I actually TRY to learn some coding I can 😉 It is great to know how to do some basic things!

I think of the back end stuff of blogging like I think about cars. I'm scared to death of all the other stuff. All I want to do is drive. Host Gator sounds great. If I ever decide to leave my hosting company I will be choosing Host Gator.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha! Exactly! Although with cars, I'm pretty scared to drive too!
krissy @ whymoms
I've never heard of them before! We definitely NEED to switch over. I will check it out today! Thanks for the info!! 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
They are one of the big ones (and the best!)!
karen
thank for this post...I have host monster, but don' think I have ever used their help I should and going to look into this when my time expires. Stopping by from #SITSBlogging
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I've never heard of that one! Haha!
Kim @ CoziNest
This is a great post. Your title drew me in immediately! I will store away this info for when my hosting agreement expires. I am all in favor of anything that makes my blogging world a little easier. Thanks for sharing. I found you over at Pin Junkie.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
You will love HostGator! I whole-heartedly will always recommend them!
Life Breath Present
We also use HostGator and Yes, I love them! They are always so nice and friendly when we have a question or need something solved. I do get a bit nervous about making changes to the blog, but Hun will help me out and point me in the right direction or tell me what terms to use so I can find the answer. I like doing things myself, so that can be interesting, but I also have a "dummy site" where I can make major changes and see how they go before making those changes to my "live" site! 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Ah! A "dummy site" sounds like such a good idea!
Kelly
I totally agree with you - I've been blogging for a long time, but there are some things I'd just rather not have to mess with, it's not worth my time! HostGator has been my host since the beginning, and I just love them.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
They are the best! So glad you use them too!
Evolve with Mary
I went to school for graphic design and they also taught me basic coding. Throughout the years I've taught myself HTML, XHTML and a little java script. I started my blog on Blogger and moved it to WordPress 3-4 months ago, I self host with Bluehost. So far so good, something is wrong with my wordpress account it only allows me to post in HTML so there are lots of [embed] at first it was super intimidating but now I'm used to it and am thankful I'm getting to practice formatting a website with a little code. If I didn't have all this experience I would be totally lost. I know stress free blog maintenance is a must for most blogger.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
OMG! What's wrong! That's not right! You shouldn't have to do that. Haha, I would not be blogging if I had to do old school HTML to write posts!
Jessica @ Nutritioulicious
Good to know about if I run into any trouble with my current host! This stuff is so not my area of expertise.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Right!
Kelly
I am so overwhelmed when it comes to the technology end of blogging! Thank you so much for this resource. Pinning for later!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Thanks Kelly!
Linda @ Veganosity
Coding is NOT my thing. I don't like to mess with the inner-workings of my blog. Thank goodness Alex took some CS in college and she can do the maintenance for our blog. I'm thinking about switching to another host, I'll keep this in mind. Thanks, Rebecca!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I wish I knew more DESIGN coding stuff....but I am so so so scared! I've been trying to so small tweaks, but....so much anxiety about things blowing up!
Liz
Good to know! I'm thinking about switching to my own site.. will take all this info into consideration for sure 🙂
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
If you go self-hosted, pick HostGator! For real!
Michele @ paleorunningmomma
I use Bluehost and they've saved me a few times, I love them 🙂 I am not a techie blogger at all, I completely relate to that panic feeling!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Bluehost has so many problems where they servers!
I wish I had more know-how!
Lara @ MommyKazam
I've heard a lot of good things about Host Gator. If I ever have issues with my current host, I'll probably switch over to them.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I had only heard super good things when I was researching, so I knew to go with them!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
Stress-free blog maintenance is super important to me... especially since I know very little about the technical side. I am more than willing to pay people to take care of those things for me!!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Haha, I know, right 😉
Natalie | Feasting on Fruit
For a minute there I thought I had the day of the week wrong because you rarely post on Thursday, but nope it's real! 😀 haha When I switched to WP I went with Bluehost since it's the only one I'd heard of at the time, and frankly the thought of switching gives me nightmares! It took me like 3 days of working non-stop morning till night to get it all figured out! Messing with stuff like hosting and servers and codes scares the heck out of me and I've already had to do way more of it than I ever wanted to since switching to self-hosted. Perhaps HostGator would've been easier, but I survived 😉
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
It would have 😉 Well, when it's time to renew your hosting package..... 😉
Meal Makeover Mom Janice
Good to know about Host Gator. We just switched web host but will keep this in mind if we have issues!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Well, I totally recommend them!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Hi Rebecca! Yes to all of this! I get a little intimidated by all the back-end stuff. But I've been using HostGator as well and they treat me right! 🙂 This new program sounds like just what I need to upgrade to!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I'm glad that I haven't actually had to bring big problems to them! They always are up and running so perfectly that it hasn't been needed for any big crisis!
Sarah
I have never heard of HostGator. I am just as anxious and I leave all that to my husband as he is a little more techie with code and stuff like that so I have him deal with stuff like that when I need it but it is also why my blog is probably more stone ageish as I don't let him touch it often as I'm scared he will break it and usually only ask for help after I break something. Haha!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Really!? They are great!!! Get to know them 😉
Haha, yea! If something breaks...I have no one to fix it (but HostGator). But on the design side....if things go wrong...
Farrah
Glad to hear I'm not the only one that's kinda terrified about plugin updates! 😡 I'm on bluehost, but I've heard awesome things about hostgator!!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
I always hear people say, "watch out for this plugin update" and that when it updated, things broke and when terribly wrong. Thankfully I am very minimal with plugins, but I'm scared to death of seeing updates occur!
Cynthia @craftoflaughter
This is really good information for non-techy people like me!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Yes!
Emily @ My Healthyish Life
I am so intimidated by all the coding and letters/numbers that I do NOT understand! I can grasp some small things but I'm afraid to alter anything.
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
Me too! I've been make tiny little tweeks. but the person I had design my site last year really screwed me over on that, so I can't do much with editing design elements now that I want!
Annmarie
Pretty sure I need Hostgator in my life!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine
You do 😉 Seriously, I am SO glad I chose them. You always hear about other hosting servers going down and what-not....but not the gator!
