Happy Thursday lovlies! Just two more days until the weekend. March is now almost half way over already! I always say, once January, February, and March get over and done with, I turn into a much happier person and so does everyone else...and even the weather 😉 You can really start to tell the spring and summer and almost close enough to touch, taste, and smell. I feel my body craving it. Soon the days won't feel so long and cumbersome. It is time to get some spring in our step (literally and figuratively!) So I put together a nice Spring upper body workout for you all. This is another of my favorites and it has a fun yoga inspired surprise at the end of each round 😉

Upper Body Spring Surprise | Strength and SunshineNotes:

+ Complete 3 rounds any way you like, but at the end of each round hold Chaturanga for as long as possible. When you can't hold it any longer, try not to collapse to the floor, but push back up with that last little bit of strength!

+ Dumbbells can be used for all exercises, but I like to use a barbell for the bent-over rows.

+ Use challenging weights. I usually split everything up into 10 reps. For example. I will do 10 front raises, 10 bent-over rows, repeat that and more on to the next two.

And now for those poppy seeds 😉 So, what is bright and sunny and goes with poppy seeds? Lemon of course. Yea, so I didn't want to make Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes, but I did make some Lemon Poppy Seed Quinoa Flakes awhile back. I've had this recipe in the to-post-pile for months and now it finally can have it's time in the spotlight!

Yay for poppy seeds! I really do think they are so cute and have a wonderful taste! You will be seeing them again in the near future 😉

So tell me:

+ Are you excited for Spring? What is the first thing you notice about the changing seasons?

+ Are you one of those people who swear by drinking warm water and lemon in the morning? I am not. I think the acid from the lemon would kill my stomach. I need my acid pills in the morning, haha, but I take those with 16oz of water...just no lemon 😉

This looks good! I wonder if it would work with amaranth flakes since I have some knocking around in the cupboard! I'm not too keen to the flavour of them so I am thinking that the lemon might just help to hide it! Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks for a great upper body workout! I've been having a hard time fitting in back/bi's, chest/tri's, etc. on their day so I'm opting for an upper body circuit. Which actually pushes me harder.

I like doing my upper body all at once too! I don't think splits are necessarily and it seems to complicated. Why only work them once a week? Do a circuit of all the muscles 3 times a week and you are good to go! Glad you like the workout, let me know how it goes 🙂

Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞 So Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞

So many people still confuse the two, but it’s an autoimmune disease, not an allergy. That means gluten doesn’t cause an immediate allergic reaction resulting in hives or swelling…it causes your immune system to attack your small intestine longterm.

This distinction matters because:
👉 There’s no medication or quick fix
👉 The only treatment is a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet
👉 Mislabeling it as an “allergy” is scientifically incorrect. There is no such thing as a gluten allergy.

Swipe through to learn why the distinction is inportant and why accurate education and awareness is paramount. Let’s set the record straight and not mislabel our disease when speaking about it. 💛
