Friday Finisher 2/2/18

Published: Feb 2, 2018 · Modified: Mar 27, 2019 by Rebecca Pytell · This post may contain affiliate links.

Okay, rant time. What is it with school (from kindergarten through college) and the obsession with group projects. They DO NOT work. The majority of "children" don't pull their weight and do their fair share of the work. I'd been pretty lucky up until now with group work in college. Two classes I have this semester have (or will be soon) group based. The leadership seminar I'm currently taking is the "bad seed" right now. We were assigned a group power point on professionalism last week, (due yesterday), and guess who couldn't get her group of 3 to respond...me. Since this has to be done out of class, online, we use a Slack channel for communication. My group members never responded, so I took matters (my grade!) into my own hands and did the entire project myself.

Did I have extra time for all that work? No. Did I do it and grit my teeth? Yes. Leadership, I guess I have that in the bag. Professionalism? This rant may not fall under "professional", but boy and I so angry right now. This is going to be a LONG semester...and it's only February. Rant over...let's get to the good links that you came for (and I somehow still found time to put together!)

I hear this same complaint from my two college aged sons often. Such a challenge to endure for students who really do want to get an education . . .

Haha, yes! Terrible...I understand that "teamwork" and collaboration is so important in today's society and workplace, but there must be a better way!
