Friday Finisher 3/18/16

Happy Post-St. Patrick's Day! How was it? I'm guessing most people had any parties last weekend or this weekend coming up. I didn't mean for it to happen, but I totally failed at even wearing green yesterday! I was wearing blue :/ Kind of close...right? Just add some yellow and there you go! We can pretend that blue is the new green (just to make me feel better!). At least I can redeem myself next Sunday, Easter. I'll wear orange...you know...for carrots 😉 Haha!

Nothing much to update you on this week, but back to classes, having to start figuring out what classes to (stressfully) try to get registered for in a few weeks, and just keep trucking along till the end of the semester! O and still deal with this crazy weather that goes form 80 to possible snow this weekend??? How? Well at least snow means you can turn the oven on and do a bunch of baking, right? Have a fantastic weekend, gluten-free foodies (go make some carrot cake waffles!)

Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞 So Celiac Disease is NOT a food allergy 🚫🍞

So many people still confuse the two, but it’s an autoimmune disease, not an allergy. That means gluten doesn’t cause an immediate allergic reaction resulting in hives or swelling…it causes your immune system to attack your small intestine longterm. 

This distinction matters because:
👉 There’s no medication or quick fix
👉 The only treatment is a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet
👉 Mislabeling it as an “allergy” is scientifically incorrect. There is no such thing as a gluten allergy.
