Raw, roasted, air-fried...just another delicious way to serve up this colorfully humble root veggie! Crisp and peppery for a Spring salad, but creamy and subtly sweet when given the air fryer roasted treatment. These radishes are super versatile and a perfect pairing for just about any entree, just like air fryer potatoes (but low-carb)! Choose your favorite seasonings and toss them in your air fryer for a very hands-off, quick, and easy dish!
What Do Air Fried Radishes Taste Like?
If you don't like the peppery and slightly spicy taste of raw radishes, you are going to love the mildly sweet and slightly caramelized flavor of roasted radishes! The roasting brings out the natural sugars in the radishes which mellows out that peppery flavor when eaten raw. The radish is similar to the flavor of a turnip and muted enough in flavor that it can be seasoned with just about any herb or spice you throw at it!

Are Radishes Healthy?
Radishes are a healthy root vegetable that's part of the cruciferous family. There are a ton of varieties that vary in shape and color. Red is the common one you'll see in your local grocery, but Daikon, watermelon radish, and black radish are other standout varieties. In a half-cup of raw radishes, there are only 9 calories, 2g carbs, 0g protein, 0g fat, and 0g sugar. They're packed with antioxidants, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, folate, potassium, iron, manganese, niacin, and thiamine!
Ingredients For Air Fryer Radishes
- Radishes: Raw, fresh radishes in any color or shape. Your typical red radish is perfect here and depending on the size, all you need to do is give them a slice in half. If they are larger, you can quarter them or slice them into coins. If you get a fresh bunch, you'll need to trim off the top greens and bottom point stem.
- Seasonings: Lumped as one ingredient, choose seasonings that will complement the meal you are serving them with or whatever you're craving at the moment! I'm keeping it simple with some salt, black pepper, garlic, and onion powder.
- Olive Oil: This is optional and I did not use oil, but 2-3 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil will help the seasonings stick and ensure the outside edges crisp.
Choose Your Seasoning & Flavors
- Asian FlavorsΒ like sesame seeds, sesame oil,Β coconut aminos,Β teriyaki sauce, and ginger
- Buttery by adding a tablespoon of melted vegan butter before and after air frying
- Salt & Vinegar by adding extra salt and white vinegar for a low-carb salt and vinegar chip (add flakey salt at the end for extra vibes!)
- Hot & Spicy with chipotle or chili powder, even a dash of hot sauce
- Curry PowderΒ to make them fragrant with Indian flare
- Cheesy usingΒ nutritional yeastΒ or a sprinkle ofΒ vegan parmesan
- Dried Herbs like parsley, mint, thyme, and sage
- Thai FlavorsΒ with Thai basil, garlic, and chilis
- Citrusy flavorsΒ like lemon or lime zest bring delicious zing
How To Cook Radishes In The Air Fryer
- Trim the top green stem and thin root bottom of the radishes if needed. Give them a rinse and pat dry before slicing the radishes in half. Add them to a bowl and toss them with your choice of seasonings (an olive oil if you are choosing to use it).
- Add the seasoned radishes to the basket of your air fryer in a single layer (if you are doing a large quantity or have a small air fryer, you should do multiple batches).
- Set yourΒ air fryerΒ toΒ 400Β°F and air fry for 10 minutes.
- Give the basket a shake before air frying for an additional 5-6 minutes or until your desired crispiness level.
How Long To Air Fry Radishes
How long you need to air fry the radishes depends on the size of your air fryer and how crispy you want them. The smaller the air fryer, the more batches you'll need to do to prevent overcrowding and steaming. To get a nice golden brown caramelized crisp, start with 10 minutes, before tossing them and doing an additional 5-6 minutes. For extra crispy roasted, leave them in longer the second time for about 8 minutes).
How To Store Leftovers
You can meal prep and store leftover air-fried radishes in a closed container in the fridge for 5-7 days. You can freeze them but I don't recommend it as the texture will be off when thawed and reheated.
How To Make Leftovers Crispy Again
Leftovers can be reheated and crisped again by tossing them back in your air fryer at 350Β°F for about 4-5 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. They are delicious cold as well!
What To Serve Radishes With
Enjoy them just with their seasonings as a snack or appetizer. They can even be dipped into vegan sour cream, homemade ketchup, or guacamole! As a simple side dish, they go well with entrees like this vegan lentil loaf, carrot risotto, shepherd's pie, or some hearty meat options like a whole roast chicken, or spring tilapia!
