Which Food Must Go?

Published: Mar 25, 2015 Β· Modified: Jul 23, 2017 by Rebecca Pytell Β· This post may contain affiliate links.

Or as BuzzFeed dubs it, "The Hardest Game of "Which Food Must Go" You'll Ever Play!" I'm in! I actually saw this fun little "game" on Ellen's blog last week and knew it would be a perfect post to lighten things up this week here on the blog! Everyone loves a little foodie fun and this is a unique set of questions I'd never seen. The rules are, "If you had to live without one of the foods listed below (in each set of three), which would you choose to eliminate?" Understood? Okay, let's play!

Which Food Must Go | Strength and Sunshine @RebeccaGF666 #food

1. Pancakes, Waffles, or French Toast?

Eliminate: French Toast. I mean, I rarely make French Toast, pancakes and waffles are much more a staple! (Obviously!). I've been much bigger into waffles though down here in college since it's easy to just whip out and plug in my waffle iron instead of lug pans and batter down to the kitchen. Hopefully once I'm home again I can make all three much more readily!

Cinnamon Pear Oat Pancakes | Strength and Sunshine @RebeccaGF666 #breakfast #pancakes #glutenfree #vegan #pears

2. Pie, Cake, or Brownies?

Eliminate: Cake. O god, I know! Don't kill me! But even though I never eat pie except this and this, and I'd take a brownie before cake. Brownies are kinda like cake right? Although I love carrot cake. I don't know really. I never eat that kinda stuff...just not appealing to me.

Crustless Pumpkin Pie

3. Curly Fries, Crinkle-Cut Fries, or Steak Fries?

Eliminate: Crinkle-Cut. Curly fries are just fun! Steak cut fries are just super easy to make. Just cut a potato. Crinkle-cut I picture are being super limp and wet, haha!

Fries 1

4. Pizza, Pizza Rolls, or Bagel Bites?

Eliminate: Pizza Rolls. I hate when my brother makes those microwave things at home...they smell bad! Haha! But I am all for my favorite personal pizzas, and pizza with a bagel base is always a winner πŸ˜‰ Speaking of, did you ever make English muffin pizzas as a kid? I did! I loved them! So much fun! Take an English muffin, top with sauce, cheese, spices, and put it in the oven! Haha, the good old days πŸ˜‰

Grilled Vegan Margherita Pizza | Strength and Sunshine

5. Chocolate Chip Cookies, Sugar Cookies, or Peanut Butter Cookies?

Eliminate: Sugar Cookies. Chocolate anything will always win and peanut butter is delicious! But I think I'd really go for these pumpkin cookies or a good oatmeal cookie!

Soft Spiced Cocoa Pumpkin Cookies 9

6. Bacon, Sausage, or Ham?

Eliminate: Sausage. I'm going to cheat here and say the "bacon" is eggplant bacon and ham is just less gross then sausage. I never liked that crap even when I ate meat, haha!

The Ultimate Vegan BLT | Strength and Sunshine @RebeccaGF666 #vegan #glutenfree #soyfree #lunch #sandwich #BLT

7. Mozzarella Sticks, Onion Rings, or Potato Skins?

Eliminate: Mozzarella Sticks. Why would anyone eat fried cheese? Ew? I have this killer recipe in my head for baked onion rings which I can't wait to test! I think the only time I had authentic potato skins was years ago in an Irish Pub down in Wildwood, NJ! But, potatoes always win.

8. Lobster, Shrimp, or Crab?

Eliminate: Crab. I don't eat seafood (only fish), but when I did, I ate so minimal lobster or crab anyway. Only a few times. Shrimp I had a bit more, but still not a very common occurrence.

9. Barbecue Ribs, Hot Wings, or Mini Burger Sliders?

Eliminate: Hot Wings. Obviously this game isn't "Rebecca-Friendly", but I'm just playing along. Fried stuff is just icky, and I'd take a burger like this any day...or this...or even this! O, and I love BBQ sauce, so....

Artichoke Spinach Chicken Burgers and Fennel Beet Parsnip Puree 3

10. Burritos, Quesadillas, or Tacos?

Eliminate: Quesodillas. Considering the fact that "queso"dilla means "cheese"...dilla and that I have awesome recipes for the other two, that was a no-brainer. Check out these savory pumpkin tacos, these veggie tacos, this awesome lentil burrito in a coconut wrap too!

Savory Pumpkin Lentil Tacos

11. Buttermilk Biscuits, Cornbread, or Bread Rolls?

Eliminate: Buttermilk Biscuits. Why would I ever want those when I can have all this cornbread and awesome "buns" πŸ˜‰

Pumpkin Cornbread Mug Cake | Strength and Sunshine #glutenfree #vegan #mugcake

12. Beef, Chicken, or Pork?

Eliminate: Beef. Cow was the first meat I eliminate since....my favorite animal is a cow, haha! But I'd never eat pig either (obviously). I still eat chicken, the only meat besides fish. I'll keep my minimal consumption of chicken for now though. All in time!

Honey Roasted Vanilla Almond Crusted Chicken | Strength and Sunshine

13. Coffee, Tea, or Energy Drinks?

Eliminate: Energy Drinks. Well this was probably the easiest question so far! DUH! Who drinks gross energy drinks anymore? That stuff is poison! Haha! All the coffee and tea and I'm good to go!

Raw Coffee Quinoa Protein Bars | Strength and Sunshine

14. Skittles, Reese's Pieces, or M&Ms?

Eliminate: Reese's Pieces. I never liked them (even when I ate candy). The PB was so fake and sugary. Gag! My mom is obsessed wtih skittles, but I'm not a big fan of non-chocolate things either. M&Ms are the lesser evil here. I also always had a weird thing for those little mini M&Ms in those cute flip containers! Haha!

15. Bagels, English Muffins, or Croissants?

Eliminate: Croissants. Ick....Let me have all the bagels and of course my favorite English Muffins! (I still have a bagel recipe I do have to share with you all from last summer....).

Buckwheat English Muffin Buns 5

16. Mac 'n' Cheese, Lasagna, or Spaghetti with Meatballs?

Eliminate: Lasagna. Besides this one, I made a new mac 'n' cheese recipe over winter break (which I need to share), and obviously I love my "spaghetti and meatballs"! πŸ˜‰

Vegan and Gluten-Free Spaghetti and Meatballs // Strength and Sunshine

17. Ice Cream, Milkshake, or Frozen Yogurt?

Eliminate: Milkshake. They have always grossed me out my whole life. Just the sound of it...ugh! I'll take some Wink or dairy-free frozen yogurt...if I have to!

So tell me:

What a fun way to learn more about your food likes/dislikes!! I can't believe you dissed mozzarella sticks! I rarely eat them now, but they were a staple of my diet (along w Mac n cheese) when I was a kid!!
    Here are my answers:
Waffles (not so exciting to me)
    Pie
Crinkle-Cut Fries (although i don't really like any of those choices; i like skinny crispy fries!)
    Pizza rolls (ew!)
    Sugar cookies
    All 3 - i don't eat pork
    potato skins
    all 3 - i don't eat shellfish
    bbq ribs
    burritos
    biscuits
    pork
    energy drinks
    skittles
    english muffins (tough one!)
    lasagna

Bagel bites - not a fan of bagels

BBQ Ribs - Again, I can veganize the other two

French Toast (much as I love it, I rarely make it)
    Cake (unless that includes cupcakes!?)
    Crinkle-cut fries
Pizza rolls (WV'ers would murder me for this answer, but unless I figure out a way to healthify em'...nope)
Peanut butter cookies (I love peanut butter, but usually not in cookie form; it's weird :O )
Mozzarella sticks (tends to have too much of a cheese to not-cheese ratio)
    Mini burger sliders, but only if it means I can still have giant burgers. ;_;
Quesadillas (also usually too much of a cheese to not ratio!)
    Buttermilk biscuits
    Energy drinks
    Skittles
    Croissants
Mac 'n' cheese (too much cheese!)
    Milkshake

The pork/seafood ones were the only easy ones since I don't eat em' anyway. πŸ˜€

Some of these are tough! Others are not celiac/allergy friendly though haha. I think I'm with you on most of them except I would get rid of pork before beef. I still love me some steak!

I know! The only reason it was hard was because I don't eat have these things, hahahaha! But still fun!

This vegan gumbo recipe is still hearty and full-flavored without meat or seafood. Fully plant-based without any mock meat or soy, just whole food ingredients! We are replacing the animal protein with kidney beans, potatoes, and hearts of palm. This trifecta provides meaty textures and protein to the stew, plus reduces the need for extra cooking time since we’re taking the lazy way and using canned ingredients. The roux is made with gluten-free flour and vegan butter for a thick, rich, hearty stew that will stick to your bones.πŸ˜‹πŸ™Œ
